  • What's that water rule again?

    This board is too damn big....what is the rule about drinking 64 ounces of water and ____ oz for every 20 lbs you have to lose?

    I would like to suggest that a sticky be made for this forum (or any forum actually), "The Water Rule" or something to that effect. That way it's there for anyone at any time.

    I did a search for "water rules", but it returns 100000 things and I just don't have the time for that much reading.

    I *think* it was 8 oz add'l for every 20, but I'm by no means sure of that one. A quick google search is pretty much yielding enough answers that you can pick the one you want.

    The one I use as a minimum is your weight in pounds divided by two, you should drink at least that many ounces so for me right now, at 313, half of that is 156.5, so I'd be aiming for 156 ounces as a baseline.

    It works for me, but I will say that if you drink that much you won't have time to eat and you'll most likely get plenty of exercise running to the little programmer's room.

    Add'l: I just found this in one of ValidRouge's posts...

    You need to make sure that you get a MINIMUM of 64 ounces of water plus an additional 8 ounces for every 25 lbs you want to lose. So, for you that is 64 + 20 = 84 MINIMUM. I drink at least 125 ounces a day, pure water.

        Scooter's rule for succes. Forget the math and just drink 120 oz a day.
