  • Thursday - Roll Call

    Good Morning STACer's,

Well yesterday's post was kind of silly what with Chocolate Bunnies and such, however today, I wanted to go in a different direction. Exactly what are planning to do for the Easter holiday.

Obviously, it is a time when family's get together. Aunt Mary brings her famous coconut lamb shaped cake, or Uncle Bill makes his homemade brew that he always brings.

Living this lifestyle is about planning ahead. The little ones are excited about Easter Baskets etc, hiding eggs, most everybody is eating whatever they want, and we are sitting at the table on our hands, mouths watering, trying not to gain 10 pounds by looking at that honey glazed ham. Plus, family gatherings can also trigger emotional eating, or depression etc. Let's face it guys, we love our family members, but there is always someone who just drives you up the wall sometimes....I see you smiling, you know who I'm talking about!! haha!!!

Think about how you are going to deal with issues ahead of time. Don't wait until Sunday or Saturday, try to do some planning now. I thought that it might be fun....if.......

Let's say, all of us are getting together this weekend. What kind of dish would YOU bring to our pot luck dinner. Think about it today, and tomorrow maybe come back with a recipe, or an idea of how you plan your own 'Blueprint' of how to deal with the holiday.

I myself was not here during the Thanksgiving/Christmas holiday (I sure should have been by those ugly 14 pounds....they're gone now, but...dang....it still bugs me that I let that happen) so I'm not sure about proper protocol on this kind of thing! (kind of shooting from the hip so to speak).

I will do some research today and see if I can find, or even suggest some new links and threads for this happy family holiday this weekend. I sent a message yesterday to Outback Jess asking her insight on this post, so you might 'feel' a little Outback Jess in this post, or at least I hope I've done her justice by posting it at all.

Also, I saw a post earlier by Mikkey (Thank you) that kind of had the same topic, so either place works for me.....

So. Tomorrow we will have our own little ADBB Pot Luck, bring recipes, advice, suggestions, how to deal with temptation, etc.

    What'cha all think? Good idea.....???

Best of luck.....Life is Good! (By the way...gig was good, felt much better last night.....weather changed in Indiana and we got Julirama's snow from Montana....last week 70 this week 20.....yikes!)

See ya all tomorrow, have a wonderful day.

A low carb potluck! Great idea! I'll see what I can come up with. No relatives here, just us, so no stress and we can make whatever we want. I'm looking forward to the ideas here. I know this week is Passover too. Is anyone here Jewish? Have you made anything special that was low carb? I know bread is out, but still matzo has lots of carbs. Happy Thursday to everyone.

Good morning everyone! Easter potluck is a great idea!! Easter is always depressing for me and my family. My grandmother passed away on Easter Sunday in 1998, so we just kinda get through the day still. I'm not a big candy eater so I'll be allright there. Ham will be my biggest vice! I love the stuff! I'll come up with a yummy recipe and a plan by tomorrow though!! No holiday pounds for me!

                Have a great day!!

Good Morning All...Glad your feeling better Scooter...

I actually for once already have our meal pretty planned out for us...now the rest of the family can have what they want...but were stickin to our guns...there is no other way for us to do it...ok really no other way for me to do it...or I will end up with a wicked spiral back down that path and I just don't wanna risk it...
I am making the Loaded Califlower...I am smoking a brisket...grilling some veggies...we are gonna have deviled eggs and maybe some creamed spinich and of course a big ol salad...now all that food isn't just for my family of 4 it will be for whoever decides to show up...and they will be bringing stuff to...and are more than welcome to any of it...but I am makin sure I am WELL ARMED goin into this battle...because I feel like if I give it an Inch it will def. take a Foot...

I walked 1.2 miles yesterday in about 24 minutes...I was very proud of myself

I hope everyone has a most wonderful and Blessed Day...Keep on Truckin

Morning. Have not even thought about what to cook on Sunday, thanks for the post. poor poor family nothing will be candied or breaded or noodled thats for sure. Am very happy with my weight loss so far even though its slower than even this turtle planned. Thats ok its not creeping back anymore, just working on finding that fine line of carb g to keep the scale moving. its looking to be pretty low right now maybe about 15. at 15 stayed the same weight for a few days. at 10 I lost a pound after a couple of days but BOY was I tired going to stay with 15 for a week or so and see if I will still lose slowly that would be okies with me. cyas tonight

                      Hey all!

My boyfriend and I are going for a "gourmet" Easter. I am not a huge a fan of ham, and Geoff likes it, but not enough to force me into the kitchen for it. So we're having filet mignon (I love Montana beef! We're buying it from this great place that sells stuff from all the local ranchers, very fresh!), butternut puree, string beans, some fabulous red wine (not sure what yet, all I know is that it will be RED!), and I think I'll make that Stella NY cheesecake. If I don't make that, I might try making a small cake (in a mini bundt pan, I *do* mean small!) with some coconut flour, which I've never used before. It will be a great meal and I'm looking forward to just hanging out and having a good time with Geoff. We're about 2000 miles away from our families, so we don't have to worry about unannounced relatives stopping over.

Today, I'm ecstatic, even though it's STILL snowing, because today is our last day of school until Tuesday. 4-day weekend, baby. I'll take it! I do hope it stops snowing later because I've got another 4 mile run planned for tonight.

                      Have a good one, guys!

And a good Thursday morning to everyone here.

Not much planned for the holiday, just another day here. Besides, isn't family a bunch of people that you'd never talk to if you weren't related to them?

That's officially the first week of re-induction down and 16 pounds shot down with it. Not bad, not bad.

I don't know who was responsible for this in the first place, so I'll just say a big thank you to all of you here for pointing me to fitday.com. That's a marvelous tool for figuring out what you're doing. Thanks all VERY much for that one.

Off to the shoe mines with me. Hope y'all have a great day.

Good morning everyone. Scooter---great idea on the potluck. I'll have to use the old noodle (not a REAL noodle...yikes!) and come up with something good. Will be anxious to see what everyone brings.

We are going to a buffet with our family. My plans are to load up on a big salad and will just have to look over what else is there. But I'm GONNA BE STRONG. Have come to far to have one meal derail me. Heck, it's just a MEAL, right? I think more than the food derailing me, it would be the motivation which is so key. I don't want to fall back into the trap of feeling guilty, eating more, feeling terrible, eating more...you all know the drill!

I wish you all a great day and will look forward to the potluck tomorrow.

Morning team. A bit disconcerted at the scale, but I have been obsessively weighing myself, which is wrong. Still turning the sticks.

                            1. The stix, I read somewhere in here where if you're drinking all the water you're supposed to that they''ll show small to moderate amounts on the stix. Is this correct.

                            2. Claritin over the counter, I wonder if that could be having an impact on something somewhere.

                            Ever forward

                              Morning all!

I'm a bit bummed as I read other people basically melt away with pounds just screaming off their bodies.

Now I'm fat. Real fat. I have been following it like a hawk and yes, pounds are coming off.

Maybe I wasn't really carb dependant? I don't know. Maybe I need to work out more?

2 1/2 weeks in. I'm not stopping since it is coming off. I just wish I knew the secret to these other people dropping 10lbs+ a week.

Other than that, all is good!

Oh and don't know what I'm doing for the holiday.
