  • Sat morning check in

Saturday morning, I was just commenting over on a post by speedyturtle about lessons learned "this time around".

We are all going it "a second time around" thus the name, STAC. We are a group of people who have come back to Atkins for many reasons, but probably the biggest one is, "it works the best for us". Atkins is the best way of eating I've ever encountered. I love the foods, I love the weightloss and I love that I've adapted to the point where it is seamless.

Most of us leave because we "think" we can handle carbs again, we "think" we can have it all...I've done that too, and I lost control BIG TIME!

I've been here just starting my 9th month. I am focused and committed to establishing a way of life, and accepting my limitations with foods, and embracing all that Atkins provides me with. I've given this my all! It's given me so much more back. I have the quality of life I see others enjoying, I've got the control over foods, and exercise and am rising to new heights with a strength and energy I could not have fathomed.
There is so much we can embrace on this way of life. Rich good foods, high qualities of water and suppliments and exercise that will restore strength and an inner pride at our accomplishments.

It doesn't take long to establish ketosis, and once there, it can slowly become a way of life! Embrace it, go for it, LIVE IT

    Ahhhhh, I love ketosis! CONTROL.

I just had a wonderful induction friendly breakfast of jicama, fried eggs and sausage. Everyone cross their fingers that I keep this control over the next 2 days.

Oh, 32 ounces of water down....32 more I'm working on.

You go Joy!! (Enter Scooter doing the happy dance for luck for Joy here!)

Excellent post Jess. I believe so strongly in living this way. I think back to a year ago, Easter day was such an eye opener for me. I made the promise to myself to get this weight off. I did so well, but had that stupid little 6 week slip up during Christmas. It made me realize the importance of living this way.

I really enjoy coming here to the ADBB and posting everyday in our Second Time Around Club, I've made som many new friends, and I have rec'd so many compliments from others who say I have helped them. Not to take away from that, but this has been a group effort friends! We've all helped each other! It's so cool that we have this support network to reach out in time of temptation or success.

I was sure I didn't need this board last fall. I was doing great. Carbs weren't a problem. Then it hit me like a brick in the forhead!!! Moron!!!

I love coming here and checking in and talking with all you fine folks! Man, sometimes it's just like your all around the corner. We all have our struggles and addictions, but we all have each other too!!

So...............I'm out the door in an hour or so for my 2 gigs today, have to get all my little snacks together and lunch together, here's to a great day! (Yes, Joy, I have my new found snack - Jicama...... my wife bought me one to put in my Easter basket....haha, she wasn't sure what to do for me....I gave her a big ol' hug, and said....that was nice!!)

Have a good one, I'll try to check in late tonight, and most likely will be here tomorrow if anyone needs some help.

Hey, there is a new member named Shaemess who has been posting his menu, I've really been trying to help this young man, he has so much weight to lose, but has such a fantastic outlook, he is trying so hard to complete a clean induction. He has been posting his menu to be reviewed, and he really is a nice guy. Any support we could all give this young man would be nice.

Have a great day ya'll. See ya after bit!

        Hey King and Queen!

I am one of those rare people who *don't* have a false sense of security. If I didn't come to this board, I'd probably be doomed to failure. I *KNOW* I can't do it on my own, or at least, I don't want to! I love ADBB...I'm always learning new techniques, exercise tips, recipes, and meeting new people. It's a good place where I can challenge myself.

I will say that I think I'm starting to get control over how I eat. I've introduce LOTS of foods, and I know which ones to stay away from. I was really worried about whole grain bread, but I have control now, I understand what a serving is, I understand that I can't (well I guess I probably could afford to) eat it everyday. It took me over 2 weeks to eat 10 slices of bread. Normally I probably would have eaten that in 2 DAYS. So I love Atkins for the control and confidence it gives me. I'm no longer a slave to food.

Hrmm...well today I'm making that Stella NY cheesecake, but CHOCOLATE! I'm also making a sauce from fresh raspberries to go along with it. I'm also going to do some cleaning, laundry, and go to the gym in a few hours. I have a full day planned! Hopefully it warms up, I'd like to go on some nice long walks this weekend.

        Have a great day, STACers!

          IN

Have a question about Fried Chicken or fish with the skin removed. If I don't eat the breading and stuff and just the meat, is that okay ?

My fear is that the "evil stuff" melts and gets into the meat or something. Anyway.

          I"m on Atkins Highway

P.S. Lastly I concur, without the people here I would have not discovered the joy and like Valid said ... "control" that Atkins WOL provides me. Especially without the bars. I almost slipped and got one of the Power Bar Carb Select bars last nigth, but was like ... "Why". Not today. Without them, I can't explain the change I feel. And those are OKAY emergency foods.

          Thanks guys. You Rock

            Re: Sat morning check in

            Hello all,

I just started back..did Atkins about 20 years ago and lost a lot of weight. Then I decided I didn't need to diet. That actually went pretty well for about 15 -16 years. We won't go into how I kept the weight off. Let's just say it wasn't a healthy way. So about 4 years ago the weight started creeping back. Which I ignored for quite awhile. Easy for me to do, I work from home, live in sweatpants and t-shirts for the most part.

I went on fat flush for awhile, which made me grouchy and hungry but I did get some of the weight off. Then we moved...perfect excuse to drop the diet. Or so I rationalized it at the time.

Then I got married, last July, which entailed pictures. So I tried fat flush again off and on, off and on etc...lose/gain, lose/gain, rinse/repeat. I am sure you are all familar with the cycle.

A few years ago hubby had briefly experimented with Atkins, but then we moved...we both used that to rationalize, lol. So when hubby expressed a desire to go back to Atkins I decided to chuck fat flush and go to what had worked for me before.

And here I am, day one of induction. Just got back from the grocery store, we won't go into the size of the bill, lol.

I picked up a copy of the Boars Head lunch meat nutrition guide at the store and I am assuming that plain roast, turkey etc are okay? Since they have no fillers, extenders etc and are listed at zero carbs.

Hope everyone's weekend it getting off to a great start.

                    Good morning to all.

Hope y'all had a good night and will have a good day.

For those of you who are saddled with in-laws you'd rather not have to deal with, my sympathies. Just remember that if you haul off and kill one of them, tempting though it may be, the amount of paperwork involved is unbelievable. Tain't worth it. Plus there's generally quite the mess to clean up afterwards, not how you want to spend Saturday.

Off to try Scooter's sausage recipe, can't wait. Looks delicious.

Don't even get started in the in-laws! I dread holidays more and more and we're not even married yet! LOL

Anywho, today started off as a great one. Easter egg hunt stuff at church spending the day with my son and niece. Then McDonalds and everything fell apart. I have been SO good with fast food; haven't even gone there at all. But we went for the Playscape thingy and I ended up sharing fries with the kids. Needless to say, my gut is feeling the consequences and I could sleep for a week. Yuck. Why do I torture myself with weak decisions?

Hope everyone has a great day! Off to dye Easter eggs!
