    Good Morning STACer's,

    Hope everybody had a wonderful Easter holiday with family and friends. Had a nice quiet day at home yesteday. Through the wonders of DVD's, saw poor Jesus crucified not only once, but 3 times....

    My wife gave me a new low carb cook book. Some exciting possibilities to talk about at a later date.

    Today is a good day. Today makes 1 year that I decided to do something about this weight. The day after Easter a year ago.

    So, that being said, I want you all to know that this way of life can be done. Focus and Determination!

    Hope everybody has a wonderful day!

    Goals! Focus! Motivation! You can do this, YOU want to do this!

    Congratulations Scooter on your 1 year Atkins anniversary. A great accomplishment!

    I had a pretty quiet weekend. Lunch yesterday at a buffet place, which worked out well. Salad and roast beef and broccoli. I went grocery shopping and bought too much stuff. I shop, dh puts away. Since I couldn't decide what to have for dinner anyway, dh announced that I bought too much stuff and the eggs wouldn't fit in the fridge, therefore, we had to have eggs and sausage for dinner! Not what I expected for Easter dinner, but good none-the-less.

    I've got to do better remembering my vitamins this week. I have the ones w/o iron, but when I check fitday I don't get 100% RDA of iron. Is that okay?

      HAPPY ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY! Our church showed Passion of the Christ on Friday...but I didn't go.. I watched it once before and cried like a baby so I didn't want to do that in front of people

      I have had a great week. Made it through all the issues this week. I am up 1lb today but I bet its the salt from the Ham I had yesterday so I will not let it upset me.

        Glad to hear from you both!! We'll all do this together, it can be done!! Sheepie, I hate running out of room in the fridge....Especially when my house contains...

        1 son = vegetarian,
        Wife and 2nd son = skinny carb eaters...
        1 Scooter = lo carb skinny wanna be....(getting there )

        It's like, man who ate my cheese!!! Buttheads!! HAHA

          Scooter..Congratulations on your 1 year anniversery.

          Sheepie, if I let my DH put things away, I would never be able to find anything

          Day 3 for me, did good over the weekend, 1.5 pounds down, sticks turning purple. All good things. DH lost 2.5 pounds..men!

          Measuring, weighing and writing down everything that goes into my mouth and I was shocked to find garlic powder has a whopping 5 grams of carb per TBLS! Fresh garlic is a little lower, but not that much. Being a garlic lover (lucky for me the dh is as well) this is not good. Someone on the main board mentioned garlic juice, so I started looking for info on that. It appears to have no carbs but I have never really used the stuff, so I am not sure how it stacks up in the flavor department but I am going to check it out.

            Di, I just checked fitday and it says that a clove has .992g carbs and .063g fiber. If you use a couple cloves for a dish with several servings, that doesn't seem like too much. Personally I prefer fresh garlic over powder, but I do sometimes use the chopped garlic in a jar, but it's not as pungent.

              Hello Diwitch....welcome!!! Hey have you tried Garlic Oil/it's like an infused kid of thing.....wonderful taste and aroma....

              Try real garlic/powdered garlic....less of an impact than all powder or real garlic.

              Your local heath food store also has Garlic granules, Garlic powder and an in-between one too!

                Well, I use alot of garlic, lol. But the thing about measuringthings like garlic cloves with fitday (don't get me wrong, I love fitday, use it all the time) is just how big of a clove we talking here. Their garlic clove may weigh 2 grams, mine might weigh..say 4 grams. That may not sound like much but when you are using 6 cloves in a meatloaf (told you I liked garlic ) it starts to add up.

                For instance, I made meatloaf Saturday, used three cloves of garlic(which is not as much as I would normally use), which weighed 11 grams. According to fitday that would be approx 1 net carb. According to mastercook and the USDA data base, going by the weight, it would be 3.4 net carbs. Again 2grams doesn't sound like alot, but it adds up!

                  Good morning everyone!

                  Congrats on your anniversary, Scooter. What a great accomplishment and catalyst for feeling good! You're a great example and motivator for the rest of us!

                  I had a good Easter...totally compliant, which makes me feel great. One holiday under my belt!

                  I go on vacation next week. From an eating standpoint, it won't be too difficult to manage. We have a house, so cook in the majority of the time. When we do go out, I know what I can have. My only worry is the cocktails...know I'm gonna do it at least one night. After all...it's VACATION! I'm not really a drinker but usually cut loose once while I'm in Key West. I'll also be getting tons of exercise (we bike, walk & swim every day), so am hoping I can neutralize the alcohol. Any thoughts out there?

                      Good morning everyone! I'm here, refocusing again.

                      I had some low carb cheesecake dessert this weekend. My sweet tooth is still scrambling for sweets. I plan on killing that this week, and thats going to be my focus. No sweet treats and induction levels of foods.

                        Morning, this is my all day at work don't get off until 9 tonight, packing lots of stuff.
                        My daughter made those little cookies that have a picture of a bunny in the middle, not sure how they do that, but I made her take them with her when she went to work. I never met a cookie I didn't like. When they were baking I had to leave the house just too easy to pop one in. Have a GREAT DAY Y'all

                          I hope one day we can beat the urge of smell.. Hubby was going to stick biscuits in the oven yesterday and I was bound and determined I was going to have to go for a ride in my car

                              Good Morning, All...

                              Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter. The whole family met at my mom's house at noon. She and her brother had spent 2 days cooking up spaghetti with meatballs and sausage, artichoke casserole, garlic bread and Italian salad. (Their parents owned one of the best Italian restaurants in town for 52 years, so they know how to cook) With the exception of the Italian salad, none of it low carb friendly. And there were so many olives in the salad, I passed on that because I don't like olives. (I know... I'm a bad Italian for hating olives!) Everyone was scrambling for a seat in a couple of different rooms, so it was easy for me to slip off into a different room and watch TV while they ate. I had a delicious omelette before getting there, so I was not even tempted. I brought a low carb cheesecake that I had found a recipe for on the board, and I had a peice of that. It was good and so rich that I had my fill easily, and I left it at my mom's with the instructions that if it didn't get eaten by the end of the day, she was to throw it away. Got some exercising in as well.

                              I'm glad to get back into the good ole' normal routine today.
