There is this girl at work, unfortunately she now sits right across from me..she is the queen of diet, and exercise. She spends probably 1/2 of her income on "magical" weight loss pills, exercise gadgets, and what have you. She knows it all when it comes to losing weight, but of course can't manage to do it. I've known her since I've been here, over 3 yrs now. She's done "atkins" or her version of it..no matter how nicely, or firmly you put it, you can't tell her anything about what she may be doing wrong, or how to try things differently.

She made a huge deal of when I was doing atkins a year or so ago, because this guy she knew, supposidly almost died of kidney failure, and it was due to Atkins she says. After ranting up one side of me, and down the other, and taking every chance to involve my atkins lifestyle, and bringing other coworkers into the conversation by telling them about how bad it is, because her friend is going to die now, because of Atkins.

She's since tried Atkins probably 5 times at least.

Today she brought in bags of chocolate for everyone because they were 50% off at the store..so I had to tell her none for me, because I am trying Atkins again. She started right off with the crap. She first has this look on her face, I would interperet it to say, oh no she doesn't, she is not going to lose more weight than me! Then says that she is thinking of doing it again as well, "at least in the begining because you can drop so much weight so quickly", then go on to "healthy food"..and that she has a hard time doing it because she can't stomach eggs (???), as I sit here eating my omlet.

She will take every chance she gets to publically announce to everyone that I am doing atkins, and won't get all the "treats" they are having, or whatever she can do.

When they are eating junk, it actually motivates me more to stay away from it, but it's her mouth that really drives me nuts!

Don't ever let her make you a drink at work either, she sounds the sort of person to put sugar in your drinks on purpose to sabotage your efforts!

It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

Time to have a chat with HR, I think. That is workplace harassment, plain and simple. Harassment is "any speech severe or pervasive enough to create a hostile or abusive work environment". Don't do anything stupid but don't put up with it either. Most HR departments are pretty serious about avoiding lawsuits.

It's a shame that her sense of inferiority is so great that she has to resort to belittling others to try to bolster her own self-confidence.

Just ignore her, my coworkers are like that!! They eat pizza and chocolate (they even eat chocolate for breakfast for God sake!); the only difference is that I have my own office so I dont really get into their little chats. It is not worth my mental peace....

            (RichT......I'm shocked haha)

Oh MissyMiss the non believers. Put em all in a basket, mix em up and it'll look like black sugary sludge.

YOU do what YOU know is right. This plan works, heck look at most of us, we've been here and we've worked hard, and I for one see no looking back or going back. Been there done that didn't like how it tasted or looked.

I've been so happy to see the lady who lives accross the street (she sounds identical to your co-worker, this lady is a nutrionist) who gave me so much heckling in the beginning, oh Scooter, it's so terrible for you, you missing all the nutrients god gave us, blah blah blah, actually have to say to me, wow, I can't believe this has worked so well for you.

That's because, I know how to do it right. I know how to eat. I know how to get all the nutrients out of gourmet foods and not out of a can or bag.

            People really amaze me sometimes.

You go girl, I raise a toast (of water hehe) to you!

Tell you're little co-worker to jog off the short end of a long pier with her bag of half price chocolate poison.

Sorry....I had to keep things in the RichT view....haha

I personally think that coworker needs to be smacked! I don't know how people can say Atkins is so unhealthy. I have NEVER eaten more veggies in my life.. I guess its bad to cut out White Sugar.....white breads..and all those Starches.. Such a sin...lol

Now you need to show her up and get nice and healthy!

My co-worker told me on Friday that she was going to make a cake for the boss and could I have some of it, I told her no thanks that I would bring in something like s/f jello that I could have while they were having that
                Monday:
She says " I used no carb cool whip and pineapple and an angelfood cake so it would be low carb for you, so now you can have a bite" I said thank you and had my snack. She said I made it like that for you, I told her " I told you on Friday that I was not going to eat any but thank you for thinking of me. It seemed very strange to me that she wanted me to take a bite of that cake. I am glad that I didn't And very glad I had something packed for me to snack on. People think they can make you do things. Don't give them that power. They just don't understand.

This is a good thing. What?? Yes, I sometimes looks at things backwards! Now when you reach your goal, EVERYONE will know that you did it with Atkins. You will look great, she will look like a fool and Atkins will be validated in the eyes of everyone at work! I'm sorry that you have to put up with her in the meantime, but the reward will be great!

Wow. I'm pretty glad that I don't have people in my life like that. I mean, I have a coworker who believes she is the queen of diet and exercise, yet is morbidly obese (but she has at least 10 good excuses for it, so it's not her fault)... I've gotten to the point where when conversations start to grate, I just walk away. I don't tell people what I do or don't eat anymore, or how much I exercise or things like that.

It's really kind of sad when you think about it.

                            Re: Evil Co-Worker

Sounds like an excellent chance to prove the Atkins way of eating really does work...people like that may seem annoying now, but they instill in us the drive to succeed and prove them wrong...

My former roommate kept trying to sabotage me because I was losing weight and she was and still is morbidly obese...she was one of the reasons I stayed completely on plan...just to prove her wrong. And even now when we meet up for dinner on occasion, she like to compare me to an emaciated squirrel...now that I'm at goal it just gives a warm feeling inside!

So! Like others have said, reach your goal and prove her wrong!

                            Best of luck!

Sheesh, I am a lucky girl, my co-workers are actually supportive. Often someone will make a breakfast run and while they pick up donuts and muffins for everyone they are sweet enough to drive thru McDonalds and pick up a sausage and egg mcwhatever for me. They at least try. Whenever we have a potluck or lunch here and someone (maybe our boss is treating) someone will try to bring a "legal" salad or broasted chicken or something for me. We all try to support each other, as all of us have tried or is trying to lose weight at some point or another. My co-workers will say, "good job", "you look great", or "keep up the good work"! I appreciate that about them! It's a small company but we have each other's backs whether we agree with their program or not!
