  • Lemon juice or salsa during Induction?

Can anyone remind me of the proper (if any) uses for"

    1. Lemon juice as a water flavorer - I'm talking 1 tsp-ish for a Nalgene/32 oz. of H2O

    2. Salsa - Also in small quantities, like 1-2 tbsp. for an omelette or on a salad

    Thanks!

I think Lemon Juice falls in the same category as avocado, sour cream etc - maybe it is 2-3 tbsp a day? It is one of the YMMV foods - that it may slow or stall people so you need to watch it and see if that is happening. I have been eating avocado and sour cream every few days and it didn't slow me down.

eta I just looked in my 2002 copy of DANDR (which hubby found for me last night under a table woo hoo!) and yes it is 2-3 tbsp of lemon juice a day but *may* need to be avoided the first two weeks if it seems to slow or stall you. I will look and see about salsa but since I only like that with chips I haven't paid much attention to the rules on it

Check the ingredients on your salsa and just make sure they are all induction legal. And watch the carb content, with the tomato and onions it can be pretty high. Using just a couple tablespoons like you mentioned should be just fine.

I love it on eggs too!

Be careful because most of the salsas I have found have sugar in them! Good luck!

I get an organic salsa at my health food store, no sugar and it's 2 carbs per 2 TBLS. Great stuff, called 'Green Mountain Gringo'. I only have the hot variety on hand, but I am assuming that the mild and meduim varieties are about the same.
