  • Very Discouraged

Well I am up 6lbs! I am so discouraged. I worked so hard this weekend while away to stay on program and it was really really hard. And then of course Tom came last night and I just feel like Eating a cake.

I have never fought as much this weekend to stay on program in my life... Each meal I had to really think about where to go and what to eat.

Then I get home last night and my son is in trouble AGAIN with the law.. So that is making me want to stress eat too.

Now I do have a positive.. Since cutting the sugars out..It has helped my bladder.. I normally have to potty about every 30 minutes..so traveling isn't easy... Well I went over 2 hours without having to go.. That is a major plus for me..

Sandy! Keep your chin up! TOM certainly can do that to you. Keep pumping that water through you. I am a little discouraged myself, but even though I am not sure how much weight, if any, I've really lost (my starting weight was at night, at the drs, fully dressed with coat and shoes), I FEEL so much better. So that is what is keeping me going! Think of the long run, and your end results! This time next week when TOM is over, those 6lbs could be gone! Don't lose sight of your goal.

      Hi there Sandy,

Don't despair - Tom can easily account for 6lbs or water retention! Also you said you felt like eating a cake, but didn't - is that right? Well done if so! If you did indulge, just start over and learn from it - I have done that more times than I can recall.

Drink more water to deal with the retention and if you need to snack go for something legal for your stage of Atkins.

Sorry to hear that your son is having problems. Best of luck to him and to you sticking with this WOL.

Sandy, my thoughts and prayers are with you. I know that this is very hard, especially with all the stress you must be induring, but keep coming here and posting. When you feel extra 'cravy' come here and study the before and after pictures!! Picture yourself, I know you want to do this!! We're all here for you hon!

How much water are you drinking, and are you drinking it faithfully. Remember the 'jelly beans' last week. You need to rid your pantry of all those snacks. I know you have children, but talk to them, tell them that the 'ease' of having these snacks around it way too tempting. I know it may be difficult on your family, but ask them, would they rather have the snacks, or MOM around????
My son was very understanding when I first started this way of life, now that I have my urges and craving in control, it doesn't bother me to keep these things around?

Honestly, I want to help you, I know how hard it can be too, especially for a young lady as yourself around TOM. Us guys are sooooo lucky......

Let me know if I can help in anyway!! I'm rooting for you Sandy!!

How was your daughter's dance competition??

I am trying... I am so hormonal right now almost to tears.. I started my morning off right..

Yesterday they had cupcakes for this little boys birthday...I could smell the icing and wanted to rip one out of their hands... Even yesterday in the car when I stopped for Gas and got me a bottle of water.. my daughter got Taffy candy and I wanted that too.. This weekend we went to Golden Corral twice..and they stuck the rolls in my face.. I looked at them and didn't touch them and believe me I wanted too... At O'Charleys I asked them NOT to put rolls on my table cause I couldn't resist.. She jokingly said..Our machine is broken we don't have any.

My fingers feel a little swollen so it could be extra fluid...

Thanks Scooter.. I threw those jelly beans out last week. I do still have a pack of them but I don't even want them..and was going to throw them away a little at a time so hubby didn't notice...

Believe me sometimes I wish I was a man...The hormones just make you want to go crazy.. You can be fine..and then you want to eat a whole cake!

Speaking of cake..there was a place right beside our motel that you can get your own little personalized cake. Whatever kind you want. My friend who is a toothpick told me... I showed her my pants that are loose and I said I am not going to go to that place...

My daughter didn't do the competition this time we went to just the workshops which are a great experience for her. She does compete in two weeks though...

Hi Sandy, im sorry your discouraged, but trust me just hang in there and you will get over this hump, remember that the tom can make you retain so im sure the gain is just water weight and if i was you i would not weigh until tom is over and i would wait about 2 days when its gone before i weighed again. I know how tough it can be and i feel you on going to restaurants and the bread at the table, i too have asked for them not to bring it, my kids are bread eaters so its not healthy for them either, now when my hubby goes and we get the bread, i only ask them to bring eneough for them to have one, so there is none left sitting in the basket for me to start at lol. But I know you can do this just keep hanging in there and coming here to read, that is what has kept me going as long as i have to be honest. Hope your day today gets better, and i will pray for your situation with your son!!!!!

Congrats on getting those Jelly beans I read about out of the house, and NOT eating cake, and staying on plan.
Just remember, "this too shall pass"

I gain 4-5 pounds every TOM, and it is discouraging, but know, that as long as you drink your water, and maybe more because of TOM, that once he leaves so will those 6 lbs!

Stay with it this WORKS, and all of these supportive people are proof of that!

Oh man. This is where, as a woman, I'm so out of touch with other women. Haven't had to deal with that stuff for over 10 years since much of that was removed. But my best friend really goes through the swings of weight gains and losses during that time, too. Could easily be why she avoids the scale like the plague then... We've been thinking it's her scale. Apparently not?

Hang in there, sweetie. Others are much wiser than me here but I'm pulling for you!

Hi honey. Just hang in there. That extra weight is definitely water weight. It will come off.

It is so easy to justify a cheat when you are discouraged and the scale is up. I am very, very proud of you for not cheating! It sounds like you had several opportunities to eat something that isn't healty -- and you persevered! Good for you! As I said, I am very proud of you.
