  • Do you eat the full 20 carbs a day?

    I didn't progress through OWL correctly the first time I successfully did Atkins, I lost my weight easily enough but it didn't teach me anything because I just added whatever I wanted whenever I felt like I could control my intake. This time I want to experiment with adding things in and going through OWL correctly. My question is, how can I determine my CCL if I'm not eating 20 carbs daily even on Induction? I'm not trying to not eat them, I'm just not hungry enough to eat them. Here are a couple of days from my journal to show you all what I'm eating:

    2 eggs - 2
    Cheese - 1
    2 Sausage - 0
    2 cups salad - 2
    Avocado - 3
    Feta - 1
    Ranch - 1
    Cheeseburger - 1
    Pickles - 1
    Green beans - 3 TOTAL 15

    And this is the only day I was at 19

    2 scrambled eggs -2
    Cheese - 1
    2 sausage patties - 2
    2 cups salad -2
    1 tbs ranch - 1
    1/8 cup feta - 1
    ¼ avocado - 3
    2 slices turkey - 2
    1 slice cheese - 1
    Chicken in the pan
    Green beans ¾ cup - 3
    Lemonade - 1

    Should I try to make it to 20? Most days I am around 13/14 on average it seems and I am really not all that hungry and hate to force myself to eat?

    When you move into OWL, you add 5 net carbs worth of veggies to whatever your induction levels were.

    So, if during induction you average 15 net carbs in a day, then on OWL the first week you move to 20 net carbs. The next week go to 25 net carbs. The week after that go to 30 net carbs. You can progress by doing 20 net carbs at the veggie rung, the 25 net carbs at the dairy rung, 30 net carbs at the nut rung....OR you can stay on the veggie rung and increase your net carbs to 25 the 2nd week and 30 the 3rd week...that's a *LOT* of veggies. You'll want to be adding higher carb count veggies like brussel sprouts....

      OH! So I don't HAVE to be at 20 - that is good, because my secondary issue is eating past the stage where I'm pleasantly full. For me it's dessert bingeing, and stuffing myself like a turkey that I'm trying to overcome so I really didn't want to have to force down the the full 20 carbs if I wasn't hungry. THANK you!

      I need to branch out on the veggies....I have some cauli in the fridge and I'm going to make faux mashed potatoes with them, can't wait! I really liked that dish last time. And I will also add in the pumpkin pie things in order to get the pumpkin into my diet as well.

        20 is harder than it seems isnt it?? I find it hard to get above 15 most days lol

          Hi Skinnymom...check out the Veggie Challenge over in the Challenges forum. Or just go to FitDay and play...try to get 17-20 gr of carbs from veggies alone in there. Then try eating them!
          It's a pretty good challenge...there's still time to join, as it starts Apr 23rd.
