  • question about water

I have heard that drinking cold water makes you hungry and it is better to drink room temp water. I usually always have a gallon of room temp water with me but when I do drink water w/ice I must say that I do think its true. I start to crave things and am hungry. Anyone else notice this??

    Re: question about water

I start out drinking it cold and it does make my stomach feel strange plus I can only sip it. Once it has warmed up I can really gulp it down and it stops my hunger pangs so it must be true?

      Re: question about water

I've never heard that..but I can't drink cold water either (except during meals)..when I am drinking it all day I have room temperature water, soley because it makes me freeze drinking cold water, and I hate that.

I hope it's not true, as I ususally only drink ice cold water.. I'll have to see if I can find more info.

          Re: question about water

I've heard all kinds of things about cold water vs room temp. I dunno...I drink room temp because the ice cold water gets stuck in my throat and my teeth freeze and I can't get much farther than one gulp! I love water, but I just can't do it cold...

I think its just personal preference. I ONLY want room temperature water, much easier to drink for me.

              Re: question about water

Well, let me throw a wrench in things...I read in a metabolism book to drink cold water because it makes the body work (burn calories) to warm the water back up....so this article basically suggested, "cold water burns more calories"...take it for what it's worth.
I drink it both ways, and it doesn't make me hungry at all, I agree with joy, personal pref!!! Everybody is different in this arena...

                Re: question about water

Yep, I read that as well another reason I drink super cold water. I usually throw bottles in the freezer when I take one out.

I vote with the cold too. But everyone is different. I fill my glass half full of ice with some lemon slices and fill it with water... ah so sweet. I actually am loving it lately, better than other beverages.

LOL! we truly are different...Cold water gives me stomach cramps...can't do it even though I have also read that it raises your metabolism because your body has to warm the water to your temperature!
