  • Checking in this Thursday, April 19th

    Thought I would start checking in EVERY day here to continue to keep me focused. I was doing good, got sick and set myself up for failure.

    Now something has actually clicked and I am more determined than ever to stay on program. I read something someone wrote to someone else (sorry can't quote them exactly or name the great source, I don't know who it was) anyway, they said that in whatever amount of time you can either be the same weight, weigh more or weigh less.....that amount of time is going to pass one way or another. WOW -- that just made it click for me for whatever reason.

    I am still facing having my thyroid removed - I visit the ENT today to see if he will do it rather than a general surgeon - I trust the ENT, he did some surgery on me 2 years ago, so I hope he is able to do it.

    Either way the fact is I am not going back to the high carb lifestyle - it DOES NOT work for me. I am not a big eater but yet to look at me one would probably think I could eat a "all you can eat bar" out of house and home - which couldn't be further from the truth - fact is it is not how much I eat, it is what I eat. Lots of carbs and me just don't mix well together. Took me a while to actually grasp that, but by golly I have got it now

    Yay Angie! You seem similar to me. My mom is a size 2/4 and eats CONSTANTLY. But she has her portion sizes correct - eats lots and lots of veggies, and just little portions of carbs - it's just her natural preference. She always commiserates with me that she doesn't understand why I'm sizes bigger than she is because I don't eat even as much as does. I've realized too it's not how much I eat, it's WHAT I was eating. Loads of sugar and refined flour, zero veggies and fruit.

    It is a shocking thing to realize isn't it? That you can eat MORE food yet be thinner if you just make the right choices. Wish it hadn't taken me so long to catch onto that lol!

        Indeed it is...when I think of all the starving I did on that other diet , until I came back to Atkins I had actually forgotten what it feels like to NOT be hungry.

          Good morning~
          I hope all goes well with your appointment today Angie. It's great when you get one of those "lightbulb" moments from reading or hearing someone's take on something, isn't it?
          Besides the obvious weight loss that we achieve with Atkins, my focus is really on improving my health and I'm really enjoying the feeling that comes with acting responsibly and treating my body well.
          Nice to see your post this morning....I hope you guys have a great day too!

                  Thanks so much for the encouragement -- I will admit.....it honestly helps !!

                  I stayed cheat free again today WOOOOO HOOOOO

                  I had my doctor appointment and found that my favorite ENT can't do the surgery but he has referred me to someone he trusts, so that helps. He advised the nodule is 2.5 cm and kept saying "that is a good size nodule" - he also said he is of the opinion "when in doubt, take it out" -- so I just wait to hear from the surgeon.
