    To throw my scales on!

    <deep breath>

The scales are not my friend
The scales are not my friend
The scales are not my friend
The scales are not my friend

Yesterday I was down to 178, finally back below my start weight. Good I think, patience is paying off...this morning 180!

Yes, I am drinking all my water
No, I am not having any caffine
    Yes I am eating enough
I have not cheated, no unauthorized carb has passed my lips.
I am only drinking about 6 ounces of diet soda a day, diet rite zero
    I am eating my veggies

    <insert scale icon here>

So after my charming scale encounter..I was walking into the kitchen to get my first large glass of water of the day and.....my sweat pants literally fell off.

Perhaps the tape measure will be my friend on Wednesday.

    Hi diwitch,

I have been through this exact same thing today and the measure was kind. I put it all in my journal if anyone's interested in the numbers: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ad.php?t=40080. The scale totally deserves the sledgehammer treatment! Lol.

A while ago Julie organised a no-weigh challenge for a month - I'm thinking another one would be a great idea at the mo. Would anyone be interested for not weighing for all of May?

Di, tough stuff to face in the morning, our bodies fluctuate, that's why with ketogenic diets, which lead your body to burn fat, it's SMART to not pay too much attention to the fluctuations, and lean on that measuring tape...
THE PROOF IS IN THE FALLING OFF SWEATPANTS....THAT'S WHERE YOUR BRAINS NEED TO RELAX AND SETTLE...
But for some reason our culture and lives rotate to the numbers on the scale...but your clothing is telling you the bigger truth! so, congrats on that.

One day I woke up feeling bloated, and I decided not to weigh. I figured, hey who needs to have this confirmed, maybe it's close to my period, maybe I ate too much salt, or for whatever reason I felt bloated and refused to ruin my day with a trip to the numbers....soon I forgot about it and went on to enjoy my new energized life...Then the next day I woke up, and I felt skinnier, much more so than usual...I bee-lined it to the mirror, which I can't tell anything in, but I just felt it all over, like I had had a whooshie...then I had a revelation, "THIS FEELS GREAT!!!" I decided I did not want to be disappointed...So I never got on the scale I created a new mantra, "GO WITH THE GOOD FEELING"....I embraced the skinniness and just had a great day... I think that was the day I realized I needed to make a break with the power scales were having over my mood!
One night I weighed before getting in the bathtub, don't ask me why, it was curiousity...Then went I got out of the tub I weighed....I had gained 3 pounds, soaking in the tub!!! The next morning I got on the scale and I was back down those 3 lbs...I said to myself, "where did the weight go? I mean, I did not go to the bathroom or find myself in a sweat-soaked bed? Where did 3 pounds come from and then go to???? Again, further validating my own attitude with the scale...

We all have a relationship with the scales, some need to know, and can move right on afterwards...Unfortuantely I am not one of those people...Since my attitude drives my interaction with foods and workouts and water...I guard it very carefully.
It's weigh day here, and I'm just passing this week. Not interested, my size 10s are baggy, and I feel just fine and dandy!

      Have a great one, Di

Please don't weigh every day! Easier said than done I know.....but I watch my dh weigh every day and it makes him happy, mad, sad, mad, happy - you know? I just do it once a week, even though I was tempted to hop on there this morning. I think we might need a no weigh challenge!

I would never survive a no weigh challenge. It doesn't make me mad, just more determined to win the scale battle, lol. I just glare at the scales and vow that in the end I WILL WIN. I am stubborn that way.

I don't think I would survive the no weigh challenge either...lol But everytime I see a difference..as in up...I keep reminding myself that my new capris are about to fall off of me and I just bought them this year And I have been reading this book that a healthy waist is 32 1/2 for women..and anything over 37 is not..so that is what I am aiming for..getting my waist smaller

Re: Looking for a train track

My scale is psycho, says I weigh 161 but if I get on it after a few mins it might say 162 or 163. It LOVES 162 that is its fav number. I have dipped below that down to 160.5 but just can't seem to hit my mini goal of 160. I think its just the learning process, I start to lose a tad then find something that does not work for me. Back to 162 this morning hehe. Will now avoid the nut rung all together because I can't seem to limit portions of that. Not going to change my ticker back yet unless I don't go back to 161 in a week, then I guess I will. But I won't like it. LOL

Re: Looking for a train track

I'd be interested in a no weigh challenge.
I don't own a scale. Removing the temptation is one way to deal with it. If you can't do that because others in your household like them, then for you it's really mind over matter.
I don't like the power the scales have over me, so I stay away from them. I can understand how hard it would be when you have them in your home, but staying off of them is no different than refusing to pop a cookie in your mouth, or refusing to go through your favourite drive-through and pig out.
Keep your measuring tape in a visible spot~that helps too.

That is totally what I thought! I did survive two (mini) no weigh challenges of 2 weeks each which is major for me - I have been known to weigh myself 4 times a day (insane!) and was even planningtaking my scale on a trip until Lyssie pointed out that was scary and wrong

Looks like people would be interested in a No Weigh Challenge...perhaps we should start another one up for May. Maybe I'll post one in challenges....

Re: Looking for a train track

I do weigh every day - which is silly I know - but I don't let it dictate my attitude, either. It wouldn't matter what the scale says because I am now fitting into clothes I bought at the beginning of the school year that didn't fit then (and didn't fit two weeks ago). A friend of mine gave me 4 pair of jeans that she can no longer wear. They were a size too small. They just about fit now. So, that's my new mini goal - to get into those jeans and get rid of the current ones so I have no excuse!

Maybe this may sound silly, but why not join the May challenge that is already being set up? There are a few of us psyching up for it on the challenge, but more are welcome as it's Not May yet?

                        Hi Kntrylady,

That's a good idea that might appeal to people - I assume you're referring to Atkins Attack? Here's the link: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ad.php?t=43150

I didn't realise it had a no-weigh component! 6 weeks though...yikes. Not sure if I can handle that. Will ponder.
