Hi everyone, ok i think i need to chill with all the walking and stuff, at least until this blister on my heel heals up. I went walking today and bandaged it up and used moleskin and all, but it tore the skin off of it again, now tonight i just got out of the shower and im almost in tears because it hurts so bad, its like raw skin. It even looks a little swollen in my ankle area, maybe from the blister, it isnt infected at least it doesnt look like it. I have been putting peroxide and neosporin on it, but i think the constant walking with shoes and socks is keeping it irritated. So my question is i can do aerobics off my TV but is it safe to do it barefoot, or what other excercise that is cardio would be good for me to try at least until this thing heals. I have been really motivated and excercising like crazy and dont want this blister to hinder me to much!!!

Re: Need some answers please!!!!
Well, if you are anywhere near a beach, I would say barefoot walking. Are you doing low impact aerobics? If so, I don't think barefoot could do much damage!F44yrs young 5'7" SW172/CW152/GW140

Re: Need some answers please!!!!
Lisa, I think you better give it some time to heal. Then perhaps fitted for some new shoes cause thats probably what created the blister, and will again. Are you wearing them too tight maybe? What kind of floors are you doing your aerobics on? I'm thinking light aerobics would be fine on a wood floor or even a linoleum floor, but not on carpet because you could slip, and stone would be too hard of a surface for impact shoeless. I'm guessing here, not an expert in any way that's for sure. Is there anywhere you could swim? A YWCA?

Re: Need some answers please!!!!
Yeah, I wouldn't walk on it too much and aggrevate it. One thing you might do is exercises such as lying on back and doing bicycle, or leg lifts, sit ups and such for your routine instead of walking until it heals.Starting Date 3/12/04 285/165/145 - F

Re: Need some answers please!!!!
I first did my Tae Bo ultimate Fat Burning Workout in barefeet. It's doable, probably without the bands though. Doing it with bands requires that you use your feet to stablize them and stuff and it's best with shoes.
But, the workout it quite good even without the bands.

Re: Need some answers please!!!!
THanks everyone who answered, yeah im going to figure out a workout that might help me until i can get my foot well. Actually i just bought the shoes that caused the blister, not sure if that is why they caused it or not, but they are doctor shoals for walking and i bought wide width, because they seemed to fit differently than most. Its a new shoe store out here, never heard of before, but im thinking they get shoes that are defective now that i bought them, i dont think they are wide width, even my husband said they felt narrow to him, and he has narrow feet. I guess i wasted my money and need to go find some better shoes. Any recommendations on a brand, i do know Nike is not a good one for me to walk in, and i heard new balance was not all that great either.

Re: Need some answers please!!!!
Lisa, I have Dr. Shoals too! I love em, and I walk (almost) every night with them. In fact, I like them better than some very expensive Nike's I bought. Maybe it's just because they're new, and need to be broken in.

Re: Need some answers please!!!!
A nurse that I used to work with (I did clerical stuff, I'm not a nurse myself), told me that. And then I looked it up on the net and it is out there.
Here's another fact that a lot of people don't know...soap and water cleans and disinfects exactly the same rate as antibacterial soap! So no need to buy antibacterial anything, because plain soap and water will do the exact same job.

Re: Need some answers please!!!!
Lisa, if you're in the market for shoes, there are a lot of things to consider. What kind of wear pattern do you have? Are you neutral, a pronator, or a supinator? If you're wearing shoes "built" for the wrong kind of feet, those can cause blisters, too. Also make sure you're buying the right shoe for the right job. What will the majority of your exercise be? Walking? Cross-training? There's a ton of info out there...it can seem overwhelming, but it's worth a read.START 8/16/06 @ 270+~MG1: 220-12/2/06~MG2: 210-1/07~MG3: 199-3/2/07~MG4: 190-4/27/07~MG5: 180-7/04/07~GOAL: 170

Re: Need some answers please!!!!
Actually, I have plantar fasciitis (sprain of the bottom of the foot) and walking can KILL me if I'm not careful. New Balance has a great line of shoes for walking. That's all I wear now. I guess it depends on preference, but I know my pain is gone now.cheri
