    Re: Wednesday - Roll Call

Good afternoon all. Yep, ncarolina, the south is sunny today, but it's getting cloudy in my neck of the woods darnit.

The pounds aren't moving for me. Nothing's happening, no inch loss either. You know I was thinking today about how my mother lost 70 pounds on WW when I was in high school and I tried to remember what it was special that she did to lose it, because she didn't exercise (other than housecleaning.) What I do remember was she measured everything without fail, she had her portion control down to the exact measurement. I sometimes get lack with that, so maybe I should follow her example better.

Hope all are doing fine today, and losing, losing, losing.

Mikkey I measure everything with carbs. Even salad greens I measure out. It's a pain, but it does open my eyes to what a REAL serving is. If left to my own devices I would have made or poured more than what I should have.

I measure everything too, even lettuce on a digital scale and the software I use calculates net carbs to .1 gram.

Yep, need to measure. My one cup is actually two. 3 oz can be 5 or 6... Then again, some things surprised me, like cherry tomatoes. 10 isn't necessarily half a cup...

Funny thing, I have my mom's little scale she used for WW back in the 60's and use that for all this. I don't know how many times I was so close to getting rid of it. So glad I didn't, it's kind of special now...

            Re: Wednesday - Roll Call

I don't measure except for recipes. If this is going to be a way of life for me, I just can't measure everything. I look at serving sizes on packages and I try to be honest with myself and so far it's working pretty well. I'm not trying to limit my portions, but rather count my carbs correctly. I've stuck to this woe very well, but I'm trying to make it a part of my life, not my life. It probably works great to count and measure everything, but I just can't (okay, won't) do it for everything. I was not a math major!

Sheepie, I agree with you. I won't measure everything. HOWEVER...every now and then I DO measure stuff just to be sure that my eyes haven't gotten out of focus. It's very easy to be over or under on eye-balling it.

So, every so often I'll measure out a cup of spinach, or snow peas. I'll weigh out my meats, just to make sure that what I'm counting in fitday is really what I'm eating. It really does get more important as one gets closer to goal.

I measure in the beginning, once I've gotten used to the right portion sizes I don't do it anymore unless it's something new. Otherwise yes, this WOE would get very tiring!

Sort of in the same vein as measuring food....You know what's really weird? When they say a "serving" of pasta (from back in our other lives when we ate that gloppy stuff), a serving actually meant 1/2 a cup! When did you ever eat 1/2 a cup of pasta?! It was a whole plate-full if I remember~~ ha ha.
