Oligofructose Syrup, Plain Chocolate (23%) (Sugar, Cocoa Mass, Cocoa Butter, Emulsifier (Soya Lecithin), Flavouring), Milk Proteins (Calcium Caseinate, Whey Protein Concentrate), Sunflowerseed Oil, Vegetable Oil, Nibbed Hazelnuts (4.5%), Humectant: Glycerol, Cocoa Pwoder (2%), Flavourings, Stabiliser (Xanthan Gum, Tara Gum, Sugar)

Nuff said, ya think? Pretty much should be called SUGAR bars with nuts added bro! Please have someone else reveiw, but I think the answer will be the same....Frankenfoods.

        Sorry!

Dude, Those aren't the ingredients on the nut bars. What you are referring to are the chocolate bars, which I've not had. I can recommend the nut bars though - no sugar, chocolate etc on those.

            From the website:
The GoLower Nut Bar comes in three delicious flavours Berry, Chocolate and Coconut and is made with naturally low carbohydrate nuts and seeds.
The products are designed to be inherently healthy and low in sugar. They contain many ingredients that have significant health benefits.
They are significantly lower in sugar than most of our competitors (typical sugar content of 1g per bar) and are made with brazil nuts, almonds and sunflower seeds.

Oligofructose Syrup, Brazil Nuts, Whole Almonds, Soya Crispies (Isolated Soy Protein, Tapioca Starch, Salt), Oats, Pumpkin Seeds, Sunflower Seeds, Linseeds, Palm Oil, Freeze Dried Raspberries (1.2%), Flavouring, Emulsifier (Soya Lecithin)

If they are so bad, why are they advertising on this forum?

              Re: www.golower.co.uk

Did a search on Oligofructose on Google and found this:

              GoLower Carb Counter Nut Bars
You are in luck this time if you live in the U.K. because GoLower Ltd. is a company in Edinburgh, Scotland. It makes its GoLower nut bars in three flavors, raspberry, coconut, and chocolate. GoLower’s Kevin Dorren kindly sent me a case of each.

The first ingredient in each is oligofructose syrup, which isn’t well known, but should be. Oligofructose is a probiotic, those substances that promote the growth or activity of the good bacterial species known as probiotics.

The main selling proposition of the GoLower nut bars is that they are low carb. That’s fine, but doesn’t interest me as much as the claim that they are low glycemic. They are also high in fiber — 9 or 10 grams per bar. Fiber is good, but if you are able to get a hold of these fine nut bars, don’t eat more than one at a time or be prepared to suffer the usual consequences.

The website, http://www.golower.co.uk/nut_bar.html. tells you more about them.

Katherine Prouty has a most positive review in her “Low Carb Freedom” blog at http://www.lowcarbfreedom.com/2005/03/my_favorite_bar.html.

And before anyone asks- No, I don't work for the company!!
