  • I swore.....

Some of you here may remember me...but I'm not counting on it so don't worry...first off, this will probably end up being a little long, so I want to thank those of you who take the time to read.

I swore last time that I would never do this WOE again. I had been on and off I don't know how many times, and had eventually built up food allergies (at least I think that's what it was, if it wasn't that it was just food intolerance.) I had gotten to the point that just thinking of the thought of eggs, chicken, salad, etc.. would actually make me gag, and if I ate just one bite of certain foods, I would throw up. I couldn't even swallow a small bite. My problem is that I'm a picky eater, and I would just eat the same things that I liked over and over again.

Where have I been all of this time that I have been away? Well...not getting any skinnier that's for sure! Almost 5 months ago my husband and I welcomed our first baby into the world. We had a son and his name is Brandon. I had complications during my pregnancy, mostly hypertension and a few other things. After I had the baby I was still having problems with hypertension so my doctor sent me to a nutritionist to try and help me to lose weight. So far so good. You can see my stats in my signature how it's gone up until now.

I have done this WOE and was very successful in the very beginning...the very first time. I am truely hoping that I can just give myself another chance just one more time and see how it goes. I have been able to eat pretty normal now (healthy)..and I really think I should give it another shot. What do you think?

I did groceries today and I'm going to start Monday...I would start tomorrow but I am going to a gathering. I won't be overdoing it by any means, because I have already promised myself to eat healthier! Also, I have to go to my Nutritionist on May 22nd to be weighed...I'm curious how much I will weigh by then?

I won't deny the fact that I need all the help and support that I can get, and I know this is just the place to get it!!

Thanks again if you got this far!!!

    Hi JD,

Welcome back, you are right about the support here, it's terrific. Congrats on the birth of your son.

My hubby (who is doing Atkins with me & losing at high rate of speed compared to me, men and their metabolism..) is a picky eater too. So it's been a real challenge for me to keep his menu interesting. It helps that I have already moved him up to OWL, so there are alot more choices for him. Perhaps after you get through induction that will help you?

I have gotten him to try new things..

"Honey what is this white stuff in my stir fry?"

    "It's jicama."

    "I don't like jicama."

"Hon, if you didn't even know what it was, how do you know you don't like it?"

Silence. Sound of fork on plate.

"Hey hon, you know this is pretty good, does it have a lot of carbs?"

    LOL, MEN!

What does your nutritionist say about Atkins?

Hi JD and Welcome back to Atkins.. If what your nutrionist is doing with you is working..why do you want to switch to Atkins?

I have a picky family... and believe it or not..they were chowing down on my dinner last night..

I had fixed Spaghetti Squash..added hamburger and Spaghetti Sauce (I used Ragu last night but I have made mine own before..) I mixed it threw it in a casserole dish and topped with Cheddar cheese and put in the oven for about 1/2 an hour.. Well everyone was having seconds..

I then had to explain how I could eat the Spaghetti Squash instead of Spaghetti cause it doesn't affect my blood sugar..

This time around I have tried different recipes.. Some that we have LOVED and some that I threw the recipe away..lol

        Di & Sandy,

When I told her that I had previously done Atkins she didn't really say much...she doesn't think it's a balanced diet is pretty much all she said and that was that. She has me eating pretty much everything, and limiting the fun foods until the weekend and only a small portion. I am allowed 1200 calories a day.

The reason why I want to do Atkins again is because although the 1200 cal. a day is working for me, I still have really bad cravings and headaches. I know it's from the sugar in my diet. I'm always tired and I remember while following this WOE correctly I felt really good.

I do not want to do this WOE to lose weight fast, I don't really care if I only lose one pound a month....I just want to feel better. I know once I get up to the last phase of this WOE that I will be eating the same way as my nutritionist has me eating, and I can't go wrong with that. I don't feel deprived of anything which is a good thing. I know that Induction will be hard but I will most likely move onto OWL after the 14 days is up.

Thanks for the input and reading my post!!!

Well doing Atkins will help get rid of those sugar cravings I had a friend in another group I am that doesn't know I am doing Atkins cause she is always bashing it.. Well I was complaining about what was being served for Mother's day.. she told me I can have anything I want just to eat small amounts.. I had to tell her NO I can't eat anything..because there are things that make me want to eat more and more.. I am allergic to sugar and white flour...lol

            jdbeckers,
Good luck on Atkins! Congratulations on your baby, too. I've been pretty picky in the past, too, but I decided this time that if this was going to work I had to try different things. Have you tried the recipes section? There are some wonderful recipes that keep this woe interesting. I've eaten stuff I'd never heard of before, and most of it is pretty good. Some things I've tried are now my favorites. Just try something different once a week. If you hate it, you don't have to do it again, but just try. This way of eating makes you feel so much better, and that alone is worth doing it. Hope your health problems disappear and you feel great soon!

Yes, when I did groceries I bought meats & veggies I wouldn't typically eat, to try new things...I don't want to start off again eating the foods I was has having a hard time with because I want to give myself a good shot at it this time!

I'm a creature of habit, and I think it's time to try and learn some new ones

                Hi jd!

Good for you for wanting to rid yourself of cravings and headaches. Yikes, I couldn't do 1200 calories a day, but that's another story.

I was a picky eater too...and at first I was eating the same things over and over agian. But eventually after reading about other peoples "reviews" of recipes, or veggies, or other food products, I tried foods I thought I didn't like, and foods I have never had before. And guess what? I found a TON of new foods that I love to eat. I have so much variety, I am never bored and feel great.

Have you checked out Linda's Low Carb site? Just looking at this site makes me drool, her recipes are so good!

And like LooseShoes said, try it, and if you don't like it, you never have to eat it again!

                Best of success on Atkins.

Welcome back, Jump in, get active in the forums, challenges and make lots of friends...it will help you stay motivated and keep you on track. When you go to the nutritionist, its a good idea to take a meal plan sheet with you to show her how healthy you are eating. I'm sure once she sees how balanced you're actually eating...she'll think twice. I took my food diary to my doc when I first started and she bought the book and started on the program too.

Post often and keep us posted on your progress.
