Terry, maybe you could try some cumin and cayenne, make them sort of mexican? Or perhaps garlic, organo and basil..italian rolls? I can't really think of anything neutral..poppy seeds sprinkled on top might be good or sesame seeds. Or maybe just some seasoned salt?

Kewl beans on the grill, Sandy!! I was hoping you'd get that!

Sassilee - Funny about the flowers from your birds. Not cuttlebones?! LOL! Your husband sound like fun!

obkbbby - I so hear you on those elastic bands. I never used to mind them until I bought jeans and slacks that fit really well a year ago. Now I'm trying on these different elastics pants that had gotten too small and are fitting - yick!! They're just ugly now. Elastic is good for workout pants and pj's, maybe shorts, but I really don't want them for slacks or jeans anymore.

Those are all great ideas! I'll definitely try the italian ones! I guess one is going to be onion, anyway. And just salt for third one. I'll have to try the mexican later; maybe they'll make a weird substitute for taco shells... Thanks, Di!

Cheese is good for taco shells, take some parchement paper and put about 1/2 to 1 ounce of shredded cheese on it, spread it in a circle, microwave for about 55 seconds to a minute and 20 seconds (depending on your microwave) and then while it is still warm bend it half, like a taco shell.

I've tried it that way and it didn't work very well. But it may have been the cheese itself. So I need to get a brick of good cheese. The buns could be a good variety and less constipating. LOL!

Good Morning All! Am I the only one NOT from Virginia this morning?? Does it count that I'm going there in a few weeks?? LOL..... Dh made bacon and eggs for methis morning and took over cooking the illegal pancakes for the rest of the crew. Kind of nice considering this is ANOTHER Mother's Day that he didn't take the kids (16/13/9/ shopping......grrrrrrr. We're off to a minor league ballgame today. Enjoy the day! Oh. It's cool (50's) and sunny here. Better than sweltering heat to sit in the stands!

                Good morning ladies...Happy Mom's Day!
Glad you got your grill Sandy...I was a little afraid of coming here in case you didn't get it! Yikes! (just kidding).
Well that makes sense that you guys in Virginia got hail yesterday because I got the hot sunny stuff. Now today it's pouring rain and I suppose you're basking in sunshine! I looked on a map to see where Virginia is exactly and you're pretty much as south-east from me as you can get! I'm in Canada but sitting pretty much right on top of Montana. I would love to be as south as you and getting all your nice weather! It's still too early to put flowers in the gardens here as we can still get frost for another month yet.
Nice that your dogs and birds gave you cards and flowers...my cat very proudly brought me a mouse! I got up and she was sitting beside it all proud on the deck. Ewwww! Haven't heard from my kids yet, but it's early. Think I'll go get a coffee and watch a movie or something.
                Later....

Re: Sunday Morning - Roll Call

                  Good Morning, All...

It's good to hear from everyone. Checking in from waaayyy down south (Louisiana).

Sandy, I'm glad you got your grill. We actually got one, too, about a week ago. We have never used a gas grill before; only charcoal. I really do like the way charcoal grilling tastes, but it is such a pain in the a$$ to deal with, so we took the plunge. We have used it a couple of times, and are still trying to get the hang of it. (Some things really do taste different than the way we are used to.)

I wanted to start grilling veggies, so last night I decided to try a new one I had never tried before. So, I bought an eggplant and sliced and grilled it. Oh my , I hated it... I mean, I really hated it. That's OK, though, because I have literally tried over a dozen vegetables in the past 3 weeks that I would have never touched before, and this is the very first one that I had to give a "thumbs down" to. What kind of squash are you going to grill? I have never tasted any other kind besides spaghetti squash, so I am looking forward to branching out. I hear that yellow squash is good grilled. (I just hope it is not spongey, like the eggplant.)

Di, I checked out that link you provided a while back for the cool scale that you have. I want one, bad. Maybe soon... Oh yeah, I wanted to ask you where you find the carb counts for spices when you cook? Is it in the scale or software that you use, or is there a good place on the internet that has them? I guess I could try Fitday, lol, never used many spices so I haven't bothered to check there before. Also, I have heard of parchment paper but I have never seen it. What kind of container does it come in and what part of the store is it in?

Well, I am progressing to the 2nd rung this week. Hope that goes well... I am sure that it will. The thing I have been struggling with the most this week is exercise... I hate cardio. I would much rather get on my floor and do pilates or exercises with dumbbells, but *groan*, I need to do more cardio. I used to like riding my bike outside but it is getting really hot and I think I am getting bored with it. I alternate the bike with walking (when I am exercising), but I am finding I don't get as much pleasure from it as I used to. I am toying with the idea of joining a Jazzersize class; one of the customers of the boutique I work in has had great success with it... I really am pretty uncoordinated, though, and am not good with dance steps. Maybe I could stand in the back.

Thanks for reading my ramblings... I haven't had much time this week to check in, so I'm glad you are here!

                    Hi Mitzi,

The software I use has the spice counts, but you can get accurate ones from the USDA data base:

                    http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search/

The scale actually has them too, but I haven't used that feature, I just plug everything into my software. I use Weight-By-Date, which I just love.

Parchment paper comes in a roll, like aluminum foil. And you can usually find it in the same area that foils, saran wrap etc is in. Look on the bottom shelf, they usually stick it down there, since it isn't a big seller.

I got a great Mothers Day gift today. I weighed Thurs and was down a lb so didn't expect to lose anymore this week. Got on the scale today for my usual Sunday weigh in and down another lb! My eyeballs about popped outta my head! Now if the measuring tape would just catch up to the scale! Two lb loss this week, see, OWL works just as well as Induction!

                      Have a great day everyone!

Morning all, and HAPPY MOTHERS DAY! I got two cards today, one from the dogs and one from the cats! I also got breakfast in bed! How fantastic. My husband never ceases to amaze me. I think thats why I married him

Its a beautiful day here, a little on the chilly side, but better than the 80 degrees were supposed to get on Monday. I hate sweating!

Congrats on the grill Sandy! We just got one on thursday, its great. We use a charcoal grill though. I was showing my husband some gas grills and he looked at me like I was nuts. I guess we only use charcoal around here. Hes the one doing the grilling, so I guess I cant argue with him. I prefer the taste of charcoal anyway.

Well, I gotta scoot, getting ready to go horseback riding. YAY!!! Its been way too long and I'm so excited!!!! My husband has never been before, so this oughtta be interesting!

Hi everyone.... back from my holiday in Euro Disney. Mickey Mouse says hi!
Had a great time, and happy to report that I stayed legal during the trip! Had a 'speed wobble' when I smelt an array of pastries in a french patisserie... the aroma was overwhelming! But I kept on walking..... I know that being a healthy weight is going to taste a whole lot better!

Happy Mothers day to all the Moms!

If you don't find it in the saran wrap area, you might look by the cooking section. I finally found ours near the spices, above all the cake pans, cookie sheets, etc.

all this grilling talk makes me have to ask....when you say "gas", are you talking about propane? I don't know anyone who uses charcoal anymore...our bbq's are either on propane or natural gas (which means hooked up to your house's natural gas line so they aren't portable). We bbq year round, just make a path in the snow from the house across the deck to the bbq! ha ha. I have a veggie basket especially for the bbq and put red, green, yellow and orange peppers, onions, cauliflower, broccoli, cherry tomatoes and zucchini in it, then brush on a mixture of olive oil, garlic and mustard. Yummy!
