  • To Digital or not to digital, that is the question

    Hi everyone,
I have a standard weighing scales - cheapo I got for under £10.00. I am thinking about investing in a digital scales as I have a feeling that as I go on with this woe, half a pound losses will be really important!

Before I go out and spend money on this (they seem to be quite expensive!), I thought I'd ask all my fellow friends for advice, based on their own scales.

What features should I look for, any particular brand that is worth looking at?

    Thanks everyone in advance

I have one and it's not a really expensive one. Unfortunately, you can still do the lean to change the numbers..... oops! I wasn't supposed to admit to that one! It's been pretty accurate and the only trouble I've had is realizing that it needs a new battery! It's just a plain white healthometer brand--under $40 if I remember right. It's a few years old now--probably has gone down. HTH.

I like my Weight Watchers scale - it was about 30 pounds but had a tenner off. It seems pretty reliable, has BMI and body fat readings (not sure how accurate they are).

I prefer it to dial ones as can see exactly what it says.

On the other hand. I am pretty scale obsessed, I kind of wish I'd never bought one and just weighed myself once a week at the chemists.

I have a digital scale, can't remember the brand. I think it was $40 or $50 and it tells weight, BMI, date and time, and keeps a history of your weight change. So when I hopped on the scale Saturday, not only did it tell me what time it was, my dastardly BMI, and my current weight of 186, it also said "-2" and did the math for me!

It measures in 1/2 pound increments. At first I was a little grumpy that I didn't get one that weighs in 1/5 pound increments or even just ounces, but now I realize that 1/2 pound is as far as I need to go to see change. I might change my mind once I reach maintenance/premaintenance though.

Mine is a TANITA digital scale, measures in 0.2 lb increments, the scale is very accurate no lean change etc. The BMI is not so accurate though, I wouldn't trust it too much on the BMI. It also has a memory but I keep track of my historic weight myself. It was $80.00 Canadian and almost every major drug store carries it.

Asda sell a decent set of digital scales. Reasonably priced too. Can't remember how much but must be good coz we bought one!
