  • three weeks in......

... today I weighed myself. Since starting three weeks ago today, I've lost 10Lbs!!

Just goes to show it DOES work 2nd time around (or 3rd in my case) if you stick to it properly.

My problem on the 2nd attempt in January was I was sipping wine in the evenings after work. Haven't touched a drop of alcohol in the 3 weeks I've been doing it this time (although I'd kill for a beer right now!).

It's time to start adding a few carbs now, although I'm quite happy to carry on Induction for another week.

I was so proud of myself last night - we were on duty at a football match and the usual thing is for us to be provided with packed lunches. Well, this one consisted of a Subway, a packet of crisps, a cookie and a Mars bar, plus a bottle of water. I ate the salad/ham contents of the Subway (wouldn't have eaten the bread anyway, as it was soggy), gave away the mars bar to a colleague and drank the water.

    Worse was to come...

Later in the evening, our sergeant decided it was time to eat again. We stopped off at a chip shop and everyone got off the van to get chips (fries to the americans!). I remained on the van with a colleague and when they got back on- the smell was MMMM!!! I resisted though and didn't have any. Instead of everyone taking the mickey (which is easily done in this job!!) they all actually respected my decision and some of the officers actually started to question whether they NEEDED those chips after all. One even threw his away when I told him I'd lost weight eating bacon and eggs!!

So, this is how it is for me from now on. I've passed various food challenges at work and have got used to it now. People are constantly chewing on chocolate and other crap at work and it doesn't bother me. I still get people coming up to me and saying "oh, that Atkins Diet is dangerous" whilst munching on a cookie or a chocolate bar. I just smile.

    Roll on Summer!!!

Way to go Andy!! I, too, deal with co-workers bringing yumming carb packed snacks and meals. Sometimes it is so hard to say no. All my collegues now know that I will not accept them, so it is getting easier. Kudos on saying NO and sticking to the program!

the problem here is the stigma surrounding Atkins. People will praise things like Slimming World and weightwatchers because they are low fat. They just don't get it...

Great Job Andy.. There are people here in the US that bash Atkins too.. They think all we eat is meat.. Keep up the great work.. It gets easier and easier saying the word no

Or they think we "drink gallons of bacon grease for breakfast" That was a direct quote from a professional nutritionist and personal trainer when discussing Atkins.

Yet, I have NOT told him I do Atkins, but when I show him what I eat and my blood tests and he sees the changes in my lean body mass and fat mass...he just praises what I do.

              Nice, huh?

Hi Andy! That's such great news~~congrats! I'd say it was you who took the mickey out of your fellow officers!
Atkins has a bad rep pretty much everywhere. Sad, but true. Hopefully one day people will wake up and accept it. It's ridiculous how fat we are, especially in North America, and especially our youth! It's just wrong.

                      Great going, Andy
BTW I always got a chicken portion if the chippie was the only foodstop even before I started Atkineering as I hated batter on fish.
A deepfried (uncoated) chicken breast with that lovely crispy skin is perfect Atkins food!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
