  • giving up coffee

Hi everybody, ok i made up my mind to give up coffee and splenda for at least 2 weeks. I have a cyst in my stomach that has been bothering me, and i do know caffeine will irritate it and with all the anxiety and stuff i have been experiencing, i want to see if taking these two items out of my diet will make me feel better. If i look back to when i started getting anxiety, is back when i started drinking coffee on a regular basis, and also with the artificial sweetners, not sure if they link into the same thing or not, but i know it will be good for my body to detox itself from the two. Oh lord help my family, i will be moody im sure because i love coffee in the morning, like right now im sitting here and feeling sleepy, something usually i never feel i guess because i use that coffee as my wake up regimen in the morning.

Lisa, girl, I *KNOW* what you're going through. I'm detoxing off Lipton iced tea (from the machine) and artificial sweetners too. I've had a witch of a headache for 4 days!!! i've been tired and lethargic, but it's worth it!! I'm actually down below my low. YAY. 187.6 this morning.

This is going to be a rough weekend for you. Be gentle, take naps if you need it. Take your pain reliever of choice (mine is ibuprofen) and just hold on for dear life until the detox passes.

      Re: giving up coffee

Lisa, one of the hardest things I've done, besides giving up carbs, is give up coffee. While I was going thru my coffee break up, I started drinking green tea. Yes, it does have caffiene, but it doesn't have the same effect that coffee does. After about 3 days of no coffee and 2 cups of green tea a day, I started to feel really great. Before, when I was drinking coffee, around 1:00 pm, I started to feel so tired and lethargic I knew I couldn't go on unless I had another cup of coffee. Then I'd get home, and I didn't have the energy to fix dinner or do any chores around the house unless I had another cup or two. Then of course, i had trouble sleeping at night. Now I sleep like a baby, and I've even cut down on the green tea and drink it only days when I feel like drinking something warm in the morning.

Anyway, long rambling post, blah blah blah. LOL Good luck to you.

Thanks Joy for the warning lol, i already feel moody, but i say today is better to start than tomorrow, i have some blood work getting done this morning so im already not able to drink any this morning and i have made it 3 hrs now, i usually have it first thing in the morning, not sure if it really affects my weight or not, but with all the anxiety i have been under and this cyst in my stomach hurting from time to time, i think its best i cut out the sweetners and caffeine to see how i feel. I will be miserable lol as i go through this transition but i will get through it, i always thought i could not live without bread but i manage so i will have to manage through this one.

Good Luck Lisa.. Giving up coffee is something I want to do too... I don't really enjoy it now without sugar.. But man I have been drinking it since I could drink out of a cup.. My kids are going to camp at the end of June and that might be the week I go cold turkey.. I am trying to work myself up to that week

                Hey Lisa:

I'm glad you posted this. I'm giving up diet coke. I've been drinking more water so, I'm starting to prefer my water over diet coke, which is good. But, I find myself getting fuzzy minded at certain times of day. Then, I get a small cup of unsweet sun tea. Eventually, I want to be at all water, but for now, it is just the artificial sweetner.

Good luck! I'm glad you are taking care of yourself in a healthy way. Even though it sucks for the moment.
