  • Just a TEENY vent, if I may.....

    WHY oh WHY isn't my gut shrinking I am thrilled with my weight loss don't get me wrong, I haven't stalled, losing pretty steadily at a good clip considering I don't have many more lbs to go. But at this point, I wouldn't care if the scale NEVER moved again if I could only have a small waist I totally have a "boy" body but with boobs lol - NO hips, NO waist, NO butt, muscular legs and big "girls" sigh. I carry my weight all in my torso and my waist is still 30.5 inches which is in the unhealthy range for my height. It's very depressing to lose a lb in two days yet see no difference where I really need to see it.

    That's all - thanks for letting me whine. And yes I am doing crunches lol......

    I know EXACTLY what you mean! I have a fairly thick waist too, and even at my skinniest (a UK 8/think that's a US 4!), it was still only 29" - my very skinny friend says her waist is only 29" as well, but I'd love to get to a 26" waist. I guess some people are just narrow...

      Doesn't it stink? And yes, right now I'm either a 6 or a 4 (if the clothes are cut big) and I know I shouldn't be whining but I am still too big in my waist for someone only 5'1 and small boned. I am short waisted and I know that is the issue, there just isn't enough vertical space for everything but ugh, I'd be so thrilled with even a 28 inch waist lol! 2.5 more inches to go and I'll be happy I swear, if I can just get there......the inches are NOT coming off my waist though, my rear has completely disappeared.

      And it concerns me that my height to waist ratio is considered obese - doesn't that sound strange

        It takes about 6 weeks for the weight to redistribute over your body. It nearly always comes off the easiest places (where you don't want to lose) so, a small breasted woman would lose in her breasts a small rear woman would lose in her rear and the "fat" areas are the last to let go. If you wait 6 weeks you will see your true new shape. If you are still unhappy then you can target the fat area with ultrasound. It liquifies the fat in only the area where you want and the fat disappears. Only small amounts at a time like 1" per treatment though.

          Thank you Kawispice! And that is holding true for me so far, the last place I gain is my thighs and butt and those are both back to being very slim and nice looking. My boobs are smaller too, and they are where the weight goes after my stomach and back so hopefully the weightloss will start moving off those areas soon. I just needed to hear it WILL happen SO frustrating to be one size in the hips, yet 2-3 sizes bigger in the waist!

            I don't know what to suggest.. I gain everything in my hips and butt and that always means my clothes are always too big in my waist.. It drives me crazy.. So I don't think there is a happy medium anywhere..lol

              I think I'm right in saying that perhaps you're an 'apple' shaped person, as opposed to pear or hourglass or triangular shaped? I don't think that these measurement websites take these things into consideration.

              I was a size UK 12 (US and my abdomen measurements made the website come up saying that it meant I was 'morbidly obese' which I TRIED to take with a pinch of salt, I mean at about 5'8'' and 155lbs, you couldn't say I was morbidly obese (can you??)

              I daren't put my measurements in now!

                Yes I am very apple shaped. I loathe it. Ah well, thems the breaks. I guess I will go back to focusing on my fabulous legs and try to ignore my gut for a while yet

                  Hey one thing that will help you get an hourglass shape is strength training. I used to be INCREDIBLY apple-shaped (but with fat arms). Skinny legs, skinny forearms, and a big ole' gut--my waist used to be BIGGER than my hips...if it could be considered a waist. I don't think I *had* a narrow part in my midsection.

                  When I started strength training regularly, I lost 3" off my waist in THREE WEEKS. It's also helped to sculpt and strengthen my legs and butt. It's helped to thin and tone my arms. And it makes me stronger to do anything I want to do.

                  And while I'll always struggle with my middle, I've got a WAIST now! I've lost about 15" off my waist since I started Atkins!

                  Now if I can just find a cure for shrinking boobs...YIKES!

                    No, I hardly think so! I think whatever website you were on is WRONG. Look on this website: http://www.nutribase.com/fwchartf.shtml I am not sure how accurate it is, but if you have a large frame, you can be up to 159 and still be at a healthy weight.
