I was just reading Sandy's thread about dropping sizes quickly and not wanting to buy a whole new wardrobe for each size, and it occurred to me...how wonderful if we could set up some sort of a clothing swap on this board! We all have such different sizes all over the place, I bet we could all get by with NEVER buying new clothes when we are losing! Maybe this idea has already been broached here (I have been off a LONG time...) but if not I wonder if there is a way we could set up a swap sort of section.....thoughts??

I thought that too when I first joined but I don't want my clothes so I doubt anybody else would.

Re: Clothing Swap??!!!
i would have to search out some posts but this type of things has been asked about before on several different occassions over the years. it's never happened and i know there was a reason why but can't think of what it was at the moment.
large scale has never happened but lots and lots of members have sent clothes to each others. i've recieved and i've given.
if you wish to give something away, i could suggest that you "auction" them off, meaning you state the size, post a pic and the first one to pm you with an address, gets the item. that's just one way of doing it. others just send things to their buddies they chat with each day.

Re: Clothing Swap??!!!
I think its a wonderful idea.. The only problem is.. I never get anything without trying it on cause who ever designs women's clothes just does a crappy job in the size department.. And postage is so much money.. I think I would rather just give my clothes away to someone near...and buy me a couple pairs of shorts

Re: Clothing Swap??!!!
Weve tried this before, and a few of us did it... if you buy clothes from a certain store its not so bad! but the best thing is as jimmie said, name the brand and auction them off to the first PM, clothing swaps tend not to work too well!
With my legs i'd be well out of the loop lol, 36 1/2 inch inseam is not easy to swap!HW 303Aug '04 SW-287 LW-232Restart - Apr 07 - SW 266 CW 225

Re: Clothing Swap??!!!
i am the "try things on before i buy them" type too...my sizes fluctuate with the brand and the type of fabric...believe it or not! after my big loss my first time around, i gave all my too big clothes to good will. my dad encouraged me to get rid of my big clothes right away so i would stay motivated to keep the weight off. this worked for me and i plan on giving clothes away as i shrink into a different size...problem is, the shrinking is really slow this time...seriously slow. of course, i'm only on my 5/6 day of reinduction, but the scale has not budged. strange.jen

Re: Clothing Swap??!!!
ya'll are finding out just some of the reasons why a clothing exchange, although a nice idea, usually doesn't work. like emma said, and some others, the need to try on things and the brands fitting differently and so many other variables just make it a hard thing to do. my last 2 cents is that there are people in your town, at a thrift store, at a church, a homeless shelter etc. that would take your baggy clothes and put them to good use.
you could always write on the inside pocket "i am giving this away cause i'm getting slimmer and healthier doing ATKINS".

Re: Clothing Swap??!!!
Well, I have some beautiful size 18s that are hardly worn, and I would happily ship them, at my expense, to anyone on this board who would like them. Some nice shirts, at least 2 pairs of pants (1 black, 1 wine), 2 pairs of capris (1 plaid, 1 black, from Lane Bryant) and at least 2 jackets, 1 wine and one the same plaid as the capris.
Just pm me if you are interested.
