  • New to this board but second time on Atkins

Hi, I have just found this bulletin board and I did Atkins a few years ago and lost 40 lbs but have slipped off and gained it and a little more back. Yuck.

I have been on Induction since Sunday and the Induction flu seems so much worse this time. Have any of you gone through this. Last time I did Atkins by the third day I was feeling great but not this time. I don't want to give up.

I have several reasons to get the weight off. First and foremost is my health. Second is that our 40th anniversary is in September and I would like to be slimmer and fitter by then. I realize that I won't have all my weight off in 4 months (I have 65 lbs to lose) but the more I can get off the better. We are hoping to go to Pigeon Forge and the Smoky Mountains for a week if things work out. I'm tired of feeling bloated and unable to walk any distances. I'm hoping that you will all keep me going. I don't want to go through the induction flu again.

Welcome back! Best of luck. You probably will have the indy flu but it passes quickly. Hang in there. The Smoky Mountains are beautiful, lucky you.

        Hi H & P's Gma:

Good for you for coming back. I'm on day 10 of induction and I struggled for awhile before my body said, "OK, I give in." Now I'm in Ketosis and it's awesome. Every few days I do feel a little foggy.

I'm hoping you get to your ketosis bliss and bye bye to the indy flu!

        Welcome, back.

        Buffy

PS. Congrats on making it 40 years w/ the same man! Not many people out there can claim such a committment. Good for you two.

I'm in the same boat as you, but I'm already in ketosis, and I seemed to feel great on day 3 I love this way of living, I have so much more energy, and my skin already looks better.

I'll be here to cheer you on.

Hang in there! What do you consider the induction 'flu'? Just curiuos, I have always had a headache in the late afternoon the second or third day of Induction, but it usually goes away by day 5 or so. Then I also feel a little tired at times, but I always wonder if that is because I am up 3 or 4 times the first few nights running to the bathroom after all the water I have had and as the diuretic effect of the diet sets in!! What kinds of specific symptoms have people had?

Re: New to this board but second time on Atkins

Thank you so much for the warm welcome. I'm feeling light headed, headachy, stomach a little upset and tired. I know that a lot of the problem is the sugar withdrawal. However, I also have an old ulcer and often the salads seem to irritate it. But IF and I do mean IF my bathroom scale is correct, I have lost at least 5 pounds (the scale is a bit inconsistant) since Sunday. So that is good news. I want to get out and get walking so I'm hoping this 'flu' disappears quickly. We are going to our trailer for the weekend and it is such a beautiful place to enjoy a walk.

Hey there G-ma. Welcome. You know the induction flu will pass. It's probably the detoxing, take some advil and extra water intake, and soon it will be over with! Most of us go through it, I know I just sat on the couch for about 3-4 days and had a headache that wouldn't go away....I knew it would pass and I just "waited it out"...gotta be stronger than it is.
Congrats on the weighloss...It'll slow down, as you know, but really EMBRACE how good you will start to feel and let the weight do it's thing....At our age, ad I'm 50, feeling good is a real PRIZE to hold onto!
