  • New Girl on the Block

Hey All! I am so excited to find this board! A few years ago, I lost 30 pounds within a couple of months on Atkins. But, my addiction to sweets and food in general resulted in gaining all the weight back. Now, 2 kids and 40 more pounds later, I have decided to have a total lifestyle change. Yesterday was my first day of induction and so far so good. I couldn't resist the urge to hop on the scales this morning and it showed a 2 pound loss. I am going to try my hardest not to weigh again for a few days. I know the weight loss may not be as quick as the first time I Atkins'd. Anyway, I'm surprised that I'm not craving cookies and ice cream by now. I am however having a difficult time breaking my relationship with my beloved Diet Coke. Yesterday, I only had one glass and the rest was H2O all day. Today, I've only had water, but will probably have to have a litte Diet Coke soon. It's not too bad to drink one a day, huh? Well, I look forward to getting to know you all!

    Hi Amy,

Welcome to ADBB. As you've lost weight before you've got a head start in knowing the ropes. STAC is a great place for daily motivation too

I'm pretty sure people will say stay away from the diet coke - it is important to have a fully clean induction to clear out your system and break habits. I have to admit, though, I started drinking diet coke soon after induction was over to replace caffienated tea. This is probably not wise, however, as caffiene can mess around with your blood sugar - which is the lynchpin of Atkins - at least that's how I understood it.

Best of luck getting back into this WOL

Welcome Amy.. I still drink a diet soda everynow and then.. Especially when I am eating out. I don't always like the water everywhere. It doesn't bother me. But...if and when you start to stall that is going to be the one thing people will tell you to give up..
