  • Sun Morning Roll Call

    Good morning STACers... Well Im up bright and early this morning, gotta rise and shine so I can take a bike ride in the cool of the morning, and also while the traffic is very very light! It's a 10mile trip up and down hills...should be a good one! I'm very sleepy.

    You might ask me, "Why are you doing this? Getting up at 5am to ride at 6:30?" (I am crazy, right)...I have always had to get up early to make sure I give myself enough time to exercise first in my day. You see i know myself, I won't go back and get it done later. I'm the kind of person who just puts it off later...But I will do is now.

    I've always picked things that were adventurous, and a bit hard to do. This ride qualifies for that. yesterday I grabbing my teenager and we took off together at 6:30 doing this...

    My body loves this kinda stuff! It loves the challenge and excitement of it all. It does not love getting up this early, but it's use to it. This is the price I pay in my personal world to ensure I get all the activity I crave.

    All through Atkins and this lifestyle you will "pay a price" for something. It's not free around here...Look at the people enjoying the most success and they have a long track record, of eating right, drinking their water, doing alot of exercise that they like and Being here! They have a consistent pattern of not cheating, but of eating right. They keep doing all their water and suppliments and they join challenges and rack up milage or other things for exercise...Nothing is given and nothing is free! But it's all doable and earnable...
    We earn weightloss, it's not given. We reshape our time and our bodies. We make activity important, we are organized in our shopping and research and we climb rungs and stairs...We know it's all ours to earn and keep! Nobdoy can give it to us...
    But what we get to keep!
    Feeling good
    Pride
    Self control
    Stablity
    Control over food
    health
    happiness
    the bodies we want

    I hope today you have some time to visualize what you want from Atkins, for me, it was to feel good again about myself and in this body! I earned that back, and now I don't want to throw it away. Thus I am up at 5am, getting ready to ride at sun rise! Later in the morning, I'll walk into church and have a bit smile on my face, because of the endorphine high, and the confidence from my work out that I achieved!

    Awesome words Jess.. I am in one of my get frustrated moments.. I hate when nothing is happening.. in the weight department.. I hate bouncing back and forth between 268 and 267 for a week.. I know to be patient and wait cause it will come..

    I have to remember all the good things.. The sleeping better and less... The feeling better...

    I will be on the road all day today again.. We are heading to Surry..for church this morning.. Lunch with a friend and then back to Church this afternoon...

    Suppose to be a rainy day today too..so that is always a part of my mood..But I WILL stay strong

      Hey STAC'ers

      Jesse girl, thanks for the wonderful beginning to my day!!!! I'm a morning girl too. Once I'm out of bed and going, my body seems to respond. It's just getting out of bed that's the hard part.

      I'm going to make a commitment this morning. Today, I'm going to really prepare for the week ahead. I've heard you say Jess that you need to plan and pay a price to feel good on the WOE. Well, I've felt good in my body, I know any price is going to be worth it.

      So, I'm going to commit to finding 2 new entree recipes for this week. I also am going to commit to packing my lunch every night and have a plan for what I am going to eat for dinner etc. I'm going to focus on these two things this week. And, the benefit to me? Well, it will introduce variety to my menus so as I don't get bored with my meals and have a weak moment. Also, I will feel good because I am taking care of myself and my household in a loving way.

      Thanks, again Jess. Nothing like endorphines, girl!!!!

        I am with you Buffy too.. I need to do a major grocery shopping trip and I need to fix something new and yummy... That always helps me to focus better when I know I have something different to eat..

          Girls planning out my meals and shopping trips has made a WORLD of difference to me this time around! It's amazing that I almost never ever even think of cheating because I know what I'm going to eat next at any given moment. I'm eating things I never did before and LOVING them!

          Well TOM is due to arrive today, I'm SO bloated my rings (which have been spinning loosely) are SUPER tight. I was scared to step on the scale but since I have added beans in this week and ate a lot of dairy I felt I needed to be accountable in case that was a misstep. I'm down 1.5 lb!!! So I'm in the single digits now until I reach goal.

          Everyone stick with this, it works and it works SO WELL when you stick to plan, introduce new things. Please don't be afraid of OWL. Yesterday I had a cup of sliced strawberries in whipped cream for breakfast - so decadent! You CAN still lose weight after adding the yummy (and healthy) fruits, nuts and dairy back in. Today I'm having peaches!

            Boy aren't we up ad attem this morning....FIRED UP, Planning, organizing, treating our program great, setting ourselves UP FOR SUCESS....I love it...

                Morning Jess, All,

                Well It was bad last night. I took my daughter to a concert. We ended up running late and rushing out the door without having had dinner. After the concert was over 2 hours later we were starving and we hit In and Out Burger and as you can easily guess I caved in.

                This morning I woke up and felt really bad and was beating myself over the head. It didn't take me too long to realize that if I let myself slip back into that pattern of self-hatred over food I would eventually reach that point where I would just give up and give in as I have done in the past. But not today. It is a new day and reading your words posted this morning Jess has given me hope, motivation and the will to get back on "my bike" and pedal forward, because I don't want to go back either. It is all about "baby steps" for me now, but as long as I am pointed in the right direction I will get there.

                  Hey all!

                  Jess, I love the bike pic. If I could look like that from getting up at 5am to ride, I'm setting my alarm tomorrow!!!

                  I'm pretty sore from my multi-discipline workout yesterday, and I'm thinking I need a day of rest today. Geoff and I are going hiking and going to have a picnic in the mountains this afternoon. It will be fun to go exploring!

                  I tried on some pants yesterday that I wasn't thinking I'd be able to wear for another month or two, and they FIT BEAUTIFULLY! My size 12 jeans that I'm currently wearing are really baggy, so I thought I'd try the same jeans in size 10 that I bought. They fit great, no muffin top, I could totally wear them anywhere! I also tried on another pair I have that are 9/10s, and they fit even better than the other pair! I put them on and flounced downstairs and stuck my butt in front of Geoff's face so he could read the size on the tag. I was so happy!

                    GREAT JOB EVERYONE!!

                    Jess--your posts are so inspiring! I have a Trek bike collecting dust in my garage....and I live in Arizona where mountain bike trails are EVERYWHERE!! I guess I am intimidated by the bike....I have never really had a lesson on how to work the gears, etc. Also, do you know if there are helmets that protect your face at all from the sun (have to be really careful about sun exposure in the desert)? Thanks!!!

                    Sandy---it is also nice to read your frequent posts. You have such candor and honesty, I bet you are a great mom. You just seem to emit that caring 'mom' vibe, even on typed out words!!

                    Buffy---i am with you on the new recipes idea!! It is so hot here already, I don't want to turn on the oven and it is almost too hot to grill....so I am busting out the crock pot today and making beef burritos (no burrito of course) with a roast I had. I am a TERRIBLE cook so the crockpot is my friend....and the recipes on this board are lifesavers!!!

                    skinnymom----WOWZAZ, you are almost at goal!! So inspirational!!

                    Deb hang in there and good for you for forgiving and moving on!

                    Julirama----how awesome for you that your jeans fit!!! Jeans are the hardest thing to get into....and no muffin top??!! AWESOME!!!!! (I liked the part of you sticking your butt in your hubby's face, but hey, when you get into those jeans you weren't expecting to you want some kudos!!!!)

                    Alaska, Harmony....how did the weigh in go???

                    I got up at about 5:45 and am currently making meals for the week. Mini breakfast quiches for breakfast done, the beef burrito meat is fired up in the crockpot. The only thing I have left is to make some chicken or tuna salad to take to work for lunch. I have to also plan soooo far in advance, but for this 14 days I am going to eat sort of the same stuff...only because I feel safe that I know EXACTLY what is in it. Then I will branch out once Induction over!

                    Kind of feel like going for a bike ride, Jess you have inspired me! It is already 7:30 so too hot to run (already in the 90's) outside, but the bike ride might be nice....hmmm....

                      good morning all! well after my "crack like addiction withdrawl" day yesterday which could be compared to labor, pulling teeth out without novicane, doing your own surgery or maybe even having one of your limbs pulled off...yep..that was what it was like. but today it all paid off as i have lost 7 pounds! most i know is water or the leaving of my "night before i started" binge foods but still...i have made it into the 160s which has been an obstacle for awhile.... so i really hope that all of your mornings are going extremely well and i can't wait to hear from you partytrouble on your weigh in!!!

                        Today is my weigh in day. I did finally lose a little again, but toward the end of the week I kind of slipped back into not eating enough. On Thursday I was down to 154.4, but today I am 155.8. Frustrating. I am definitely fitting better into my clothes, though, which actually matters a little more to me than the actual number on the scale. I am almost completely out of Atkins friendly food at my house today, so I really need to run to the store for something to eat for the week.

                        Exercise is going well and I have not gone a day without some kind of exercise for 14 days straight. I usually work out twice a day and have only had one day that I just did one work out. I do Pilates in the morning and I really feel that is changing the shape of my body. I ALMOST am starting to have abs again...

                          I must be a sleeper inner slacka this morning, so many GREAT posts. Good thing I slept in and did not miss them ( yea, that sounds good)
                          Jess, you Sexy thang you. looking good. I will be there some day too. My weight loss is slow and hangs in phases then goes down a tad then hangs then goes, etc. the important thing is that I am not eating sugar and bread. I have power over my sugar addiction. Got to try something with beans this week. I am on that rung and have not had any since I was out of town last week. Maybe will put some on a salad I take to work. That sounds good. Thanks for the GREAT posts this morning.
