    Re: Tues Morning Roll Call

Good morning, everyone. Finally starting to feel better. It's been a rough go and I've had some really bad days fighting with depression over my weakness and the way the year is slipping by on me. An overnight kayak trip down the river may be out of the question for me and that simply bums me out. One day at a time.

The swelling in my neck is starting to go down, my voice is sllllooooowwwly getting more normal again, and I feel like there's some strength in the body today. Still battling with low calcium levels and just don't know what to think of that yet. So sometimes I take 3 grams of calcium to keep the levels in the blood up there.

My stomach is starting to tolerate heavier foods and water again. WOOHOO!! So I'm easing back into the Atkins lifestyle. I might attempt a short bikeride later today as long as there's no wind - I'm afraid my legs are mush again and will be starting all over. (*sigh* What do you do? ) The way I'm figuring, though, the exercise will pump more oxygen into the muscles and they may bounce back quicker - well, in theory, anyway! LOL!

So I'm hoping to start getting stronger again before any additional treatments stops me later on temporarily. I don't know if radioactive iodine is hard on the immune system or not - if anyone knows anything about it, I would really appreciate any insight into it.

Hope everyone is doing well and are totally focus on getting as healthy as possible. These complicated bodies of ours are so precious; good health is an incredible blessing to reach for.

I haven't been checking in, I've been here and reading though. I had to get over the slump of TOM... wasn't as bad as I expected and I still lost some weight when I weighed yesterday.

My husband has become super supportive now that he see's what a big difference Atkins is making in my life. I had to leave at the crack of dawn this morning to fight traffic and bring my youngest to a Dr's appt. He made sure that I had some chicken and cucumbers packed to take with me along with plenty of bottles of water.

I'm making meatloaf tonight for dinner, I can't wait to eat something a bit different!! Going to slice it and top it with a slice of tomato and mozarella cheese - Yummy!!

Wow...had no idea eggs, splenda and vanilla could be so good! Had to take it to go because I was running late this morning (got my morning run in catching the bus too!). Day two of re-induction off to a good start!

                  Have a great day!!

                    Re: Tues Morning Roll Call

We have all stumbled and some of us have fallen flat on our faces. We need to remember that feeling of sitting on our butts in the dust. Its not worth it! It is not fun to have to pick yourself up and start over. When you're laying in bed making excuses for not working out, or for not staying on the diet you need to think of how lousy you will feel about your decision after that moment of indulgence is over.

We all give in from time to time, and we always regret it! How often do we need to make the same mistake and think there will be a different outcome? The only choice that will bring self satisfaction is to choose the path that takes strength, conviction and determination. You can't get to the top of the mountain sitting on your butt.

I love the feeling of getting up in the morning and thinking about the day before and saying, "Yes, that was all me! I made the choice to be true to myself" it beats the heck out of getting up and saying, "well, maybe today I won't blow it- again."

The preceding lecture is directed at myself!!! LOL!!!! I need to type it, read it, and hear it everyday to remind myself that this is on my shoulders. And my shoulders are strong enough to carry this responsibility!

I made a "Mock Danish" it's got cream cheese, eggs, cinnamon, splenda and a tiny bit of vanilla extract.

OK! I have heard of it, but I have never tried it. Sounds like it's time.

                            Thanks for your response.

Hey all! Man, I'm late with the check-in today!

TOM is finally here, and it brought horrific cramps that I've had since last night. But I'm going to the library to pick up some books which should be fun, then I'm walking to the gym in this gorgeous weather to do some strength training, and then yoga--my boyfriend is coming to yoga class, too! YAY! )

I think we might rent a movie tonight, but I'm not sure.

I just want to let you guys know that Atkins does get easier. WAY easier! In fact, I don't feel like Atkins is a struggle at all. I never feel deprived, and I never even consider myself "on a diet" because I just eat when I'm hungry, I eat whole foods, and I eat rich foods. I don't think I'd still be here if I'd stayed on induction for any length of time. I have so many food choices, it's unreal! Not that it immediately was easy; I'd say after a few months, it just became second nature to me.

So chin up, all of you who are struggling with cravings, struggling to keep fighting the good fight; stick with it, and it becomes something you just do!

Looks like everyone is in a better mood today. That's good.

I got some sad news from one of my close friends today. Her son was diagnosed with Autism. Both of them will be fine, of course, but it is definitely a difficult diagnosis to receive. My friend is questioning everything and blaming herself -- just like a mom! Anyway, I have been feeling a little blue lately and this just makes my heart ache...
