  • Second Time? I Wish!!!!!

This is more like my fifth time. See, the first time I did this diet, I felt so wonderful! My diabetes basically disappeared...I had energy through the roof.
    I lost 60 pounds.

I never regained the weight, but I got off-plan. Then my sugar shot through the roof. Now, every time I try, I get off-plan because my blood sugar goes to half of where I want it to be and then stops. In addition to that, the diet bores me at times. I want to try again. Can anyone who's diabetic tell me their blood sugar experiences 2nd time around and whether they had less results the next time?

    Thanks for any advice.

There's a diabetes thread under the health issues, you might check in there, too. Trying new recipes has saved me, and trying vegetables I've never eaten before has been helpful, too. Good luck and I hope your diabetes gets back under control soon. My dad had mild diabetes issues, and it's a difficult disease to deal with. Lots of people who do Atkins do control their diabetes with this diet.

I am not diabetic either, but I have read other peoples experiences and many people say it just takes longer to get the same results overall , almost like our bodies are making sure we mean business. I would imagine you are under a doctors care so just keep at it , I cannot imagine that in time it will not help again, but like the others, I cannot really tell you for sure. I know that Dr Atkins believed strongly in the low carb diet stopping diabetes. Just make sure you stay under your doctors care and give it some time.
As for the boredom, try some new recipes , there are so many low carb recipes out there and you should be able to avoid boredom easily. The funny thing is, most people eat the same foods over and over, but when we are on a new food plan, we panic and get bored even though the variety of meals could be same number as before, it is the percieved lack of variety that makes us panic I think !! You can do a lot with veggies and meat, so check out some new things, or new spices and look at it as an adventure, not a thing to over come. It can be fun and exciting to try new things !!!
          Good luck !!!
