  • Friday Morning Check In

I didn’t see anyone start check-in, so I thought I’d do it for the first time!

I wanted to start with a message about counting your blessings. A fellow teacher of mine had a little boy in April. He has not done well at all. He’s had heart problems, lung problems, virus problems – you name it. The doctors have now said that there is really nothing else they can do for the little guy. It’s really up to a higher power at this point.

We received this latest update this morning and I’ve really been thanking God that my son is happy and healthy. I thank Him that I am happy and healthy – relatively – and that it’s HIGH time I took care of myself and honor what He had given me!

Hope every has a very good day!

I agree Cheri - I am constantly counting my blessings. While others around me (everyone it seems) continually asks for more, I just say thanks for what I already have. I'm very blessed.

Still feeling bloated from TOM, I am not looking forward to weighing in this week LOL but we'll see. I was surprised last week so hopefully that will happen again! Strawberries and cream for breakfast - yum!

I too agree with you Cheri. There is always someone in the world better off and someone worse off...so just I'm just happy that I fall somewhere in the middle.

Health is so important for us all. All the money in the world can't buy you good health.

So, on the days when I'm feeling sorry for myself, I just try to think of the above and realize how really blessed I am.

Wow, can't believe I'm on page 1 of the Friday Morning Check In...this is a first.

Heading down for 45 mins of treadmill and my 25 crunches. Gonna be a beautiful warm day here so later will be out mowin the lawns and other assorted yardwork.

Happy Friday everyone...Have a great legal day!!!

Good Morning !! Saying a prayer for your friends baby Ob. Its wonderful how a little life can affect so many lives in a short time. going to be a GREAT day. My tom is making me miserable this week also, so not going to weigh in for a few more days. I had pizza tops last night yum, I can order it with minimal sauce, so its perfect but can't have that splurge very often. but I needed it.

                  Good Morning, Friends

Cheri, thank you for the reminder to count my blessings. This has been on my mind a lot this week, because Tuesday afternoon I happened upon a tragic car accident that had just happened minutes before... it may have made national news, I'm not sure. An 18-wheeler flipped, slung huge pipes everywhere, and involved at least 5 cars. A mother who was 8 months pregnant was killed. Her 8 year old son was in the vehicle as well. He was unhurt. The community is devastated, as you can imagine. I hesitated to bring this up, as I don't want to put a bummer on the start of everyone's day. But, Cheri is right... we must take the time to count our blessings.

On a brighter note, today is a new opportunity to take good care of ourselves. I am about to make a hearty "breakfast" of a ground beef patty topped with swiss cheese and mushrooms along with a ripe, red tomato on the side. I have a 10 hour work day ahead of me, and have lots of healthy vegetable snacks to nibble on throughout the day. Then a yummy dinner when I get home.

Let's all do the best we can with what we've got. One of the blessings I would like to acknowledge right now is all of you - thank you for being here. Wishing you a fantastic Atkins day.

Mitzi - I love your new pic! The hair is great. My husband is a truck driver and so he is out in that kind of traffic all the time. Luckily he has a cell phone and I pretty much know where he is all the time. Before he had a cell, I used to always panic when I heard about bad accidents with trucks because I wouldn't always know where he was.

Today is our last day of school. Lots of fun and lots of packing this afternoon and next week before checkout.

Thanks for all the thoughts for my friend's baby. We are hoping for a miracle.

                        Good morning everyone!
I have mixed feelings about today's topic. Don't want to get too deep, but I don't like to use the tragedies of others to make myself feel better by thinking "Thank God I'm not like them." It makes me uncomfortable. Just a different perspective. But I do agree that we should count our blessings and take good care of ourselves. Happy Friday!

And Mitzi, you look great, with makeup or without!

                          good morning stacers!
Feel like I'm crawling back to day... kinda went off a little yestersday, had some flax chips with salsa, and two small roll ups made with whole wheat tortilla, and a very small piece of brownie.... and fruit... not really bad, bad, but bad enough.
still the scale weighs the same. Today I will be very strict and basically start over.
It's a new and beautiful day here... am about to sit down and work on my quilt again... didn't get enough of that yesterday I guess, have to fix it actually and want to do that before I forget... then Yoga class and have to do some serious mileage...
Funny story: Last night I went to bed early but had a hard time sleeping, at 1145 I realized I hadn't done my sit ups, and I really wanted to blow them off but realized that once I skip a day I'll just start procrastinating all over the place. So I got up, in the dark with my husband snoring away and did it. then I went to sleep. LoL!

Good morning all~I agree, it's important to make a point every day of finding pleasure in the simple things life gives us every day.

Mitzi, your new picture is really nice....you look very classy!

Yesterday was my measuring day and I was so pleased to see that the inches are coming off and making a serious difference in my appearance. My waist nips in like it's supposed to now, my belly is almost flat, the muffin top is almost gone, my hips and thighs are slimming. It all just brings a feeling of relief. I'm doing the right thing, I feel better and Atkins was definitely the right choice to make.

Went for a little trot with my dog this morning and even with the grey sky and rain, a feeling that all is right with the world came home with me.
Hope you have a great Friday too!
