I survived the potluck, and I won.
I had the "My Favorite Coleslaw" and "Broccoli Quiche" from http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/index.html. The quiche says it makes 6 servings, but because it is so dense, I probably only had a 10th or 12th of it. In fact, with 7 people eating, there is still half a quiche left. And I had a piece of dark meat KFC and took off every single little bit of skin and breading that I could find. And believe it or not, that satisfied me!
I passed up stuffed grape leaves (with rice), KFC biscuits, French fries, peach cobbler, and cheese crackers, but what almost got me was the ice cream. Just makes me want to go home and make the Jello Fluff tonight!
Thanks for the tips on how to avoid what's not in our WOE. Even more than picturing you guys eyeballing my choices of food, what really did it for me was watching the two VERY heavy women here gorge on the biscuits and fries. I do not ever want to go back to that point, size 24 jeans and XXL shirts (I currently wear 14s and M-L, depending on the shirt).
Thanks for everything. You guys are so supportive and helpful.
Valerie
PS - Another colleague sent me a picture of the lunch, and I looked at myself, and I thought - Am I THAT thin?! What a great feeling!
