    Yep, I've done the same. Normally, I stay away from it, stevia, and aspertame is because of asthma-like reactions I've gotten from them. We'll see if that's still the case or not. If not, I would use it only very sparingly. Just that there are certain low-carb recipes that simply need some sort of sweetener. I found the syrups that others here use, but again it's Splenda.

    So we'll see. My biggest problem is being allergic to birch trees, whose sugar is used in some of these products.

          Not to rain on any parades, but I've not heard anything bad about Splenda. It's actually made from real sugar, not chemically either.

          I know in the 2002 DANDR, it refers to Stevia, but it also says to mix up different sweetners. My advice is, sweetners of any kinds can cause issues with us and this plan. Use them very sparingly, don't make it part of your everyday plan.

          Just my 2 cents. Joy (Validrouge) made the suggestion of liquid sucralose (I think that is what it was called), and I've gotten a free sample of that from one of the bottom pages of ADBB. It was fantastic and lasted almost 3 weeks. I made a big pot of sun tea ( I know but I was doing caffiene then, and used a medicine dropper, and dropped 4 drops in it. Let me tell you, this was like a gallon of tea, and it was almost too sweet. I can't wait to make my pumpkin cheesecake with half splenda and a few drops of this stuff.

            That's where I get my liquid Splenda, Scooter. A one ounce bottle has lasted me more than 4 months so far (and it's not empty yet!). It is truly amazing how far a few drops can go.

              The scale hasn't budged for me and sometimes that makes me nutso! Oh, well. I will keep doing what I'm doing and it will budge. I think it has a lot to do with all of the exercise I'm getting in.

                Stevia comes in liquid and powder, it also comes in about 20 different flavor drops to sweeten seltzer water etc.....it even comes in rootbeer. It has no carbs and has fiber in it so it helps with constipation, but it doesn't give you the runs like sorbitol will, just a gentle push. It is not bad for you. It comes from the stevia plant. You can actual grow it in your kitchen and get your own sweetness..... Only downfall is it is very expensive, but at least it's safe...it's been around for many years. Research shows that they don't put it in foods becasue they can't patent it like aspartame, or splenda, since it is a natural product you can make yourself. You can not cook with it, it looses it's sweetness over 180 degrees. Hope this helps

                      Happy Birthday, Sandy! That's a great birthday present to take care of yourself. My kids like me better because my mood swings aren't near what they were since I'm not eating sugar. Have a great birthday and do what you want to do for yourself-as long eas eating legal is part of it!

                              Happy Birthday Sandy!! Glad you decided to make the cheesecake, what an awesome birthday treat

                              Just checking in, still wearing the brace on my foot. For those who may not have seen my post about my foot... almost 2 weeks ago I was putting the kiddos metal floor trays away on the shelf in the closet, they fell down and landed on the top of my foot. Long story short... I have tendon damage - my foot HURTS. I saw a podiatrist last Friday and I'm in a brace for 3 weeks so it can heal.

                              Still staying on track, doing well - need to drink more water since its so hot here. Not excercising, I need to continue working my arms and tummy while my foot is healing.

                                Hey all! Doing good here, feeling great being back on track and drinking my water. AND the best news, I got on the scale this morning and am down .5 lb! So I didn't gain ANYTHING last week - woo hoo!!!! After four Mexican meals (2 with corn tortillas and 2 with flour) Chick Fil A chicken nuggets and some tortilla chips I fully expected a gain.

                                Happy Birthday Sandy! I would looooove a day alone. I'd window shop, take myself out to a QUIET lunch, hit the library for some books and read all day......
