  • Sunday Morning

Good morning STACers, it's another day in Atkins land! I was posting over in journals and it hit me, we can either be here and working it or in Carbland loosing it! You can't have carbs and this lifestyle. You can't have carbs and be thin or at a more natural weight. Our bodies pack on the pounds from eating carbs. We convert the sugars to stored fat! That's why we are so overweight, and then we think we can get away with just one bite!
For some of us, we've seen the light, others are in denial and are just on a diet. This is the second time around club and many of us come back with our tail between our legs, coming into the reality that we really do have a problem with foods, with carbs, with addiction.

Atkins is a gift, a wonderful wonderful gift. It is the best way of eating I've ever encountered and feel so good on it! I can't tell you how much I enjoy the feeling of ketosis, and the goodness of that satisfying feeling after a workout. I've even come to love water!!!
I love the sense of accomplishment in committing to a mileage challenge in the exercise forum and making it happen. This month I committed after not having done so during my mother's health crisis and subsequent death. I just missed making goal by probably 2 miles....But I pushed it hard all month, mostly on the road running!
The farther you get on this plan the more empowered and energized you get, if you are eating clean, and have some distance away from the carb cycles...Keep pressing to get there, clean inductions, clean OWL, and exercise more and more, and it builds up to this lifestyle that is really so much better than the life I was living a year ago.

Go for it, make a committment in the exercise forum this month, put it in your siggy. Go for it, and do it all the right way! Tighten things up, and really press in for it! You can do this and the rewards will be a whole new way of living that can be sustained!

      Re: Sunday Morning

      Good Morning everyone!

Always love your inspiration Jesse Girl! Sandy, who says that 4 pounds and 4 inches is not a good thing? You said that you could have done better, but, I think you have done soooo great. I remember reading about you going to water aerobics and getting into new sizes. Not to mention another month of thinking in a different way! Kudos to you!

I got up and ran for an hour this morning. Boy, do I feel awesome. It sure is different getting up at 5 am on Sat and Sun to get my run in. I really don't mind it. I can always take a nap if needed. I really am proud of myself for my committments and making them top priority to take care of myself. I'm so at peace.

My neighbor (single man), was asking me about the marathon and how I train etc. I told him that I get up at 5am and try to get out by 5:30am to beat the heat and get done before work on the weekdays. So, I get this email from him asking me if I could back my time out to 6ish so that he could be my running partner.

I'm like, "what?" Dude, you want me to alter my plans, my committment to this personal achievement goal so that YOU can sleep in. I emailed him back. Asked him to pull his skirt up, and basically insinuated that the Paris Hilton mentality was not acceptable. He thought I had a great sense of humor. I really wasn't kidding.

      Ok, I'm on a tangent.

Thanks for being my support, everyone.

Have a great legal day and stay committed to your beliefs. It builds your self esteem.

      xoxo,

      Buffy

Buff, girlfriend, what you've got going on is "catching" the spirit of it is resonating with others! I love that, it's like an added bonus...You are paying the price and when you run that marathon girlfriend you are going to be on top of the world...
Nothing like some focus and drive and pushing through...I got up at 5am last year all year long, exercising very very early in the day...
Today I just came in from a tough 15 mile bike ride in the country....certainly was hard..Yesterday we went 20miles but at my DD's pace, and I barely broke a sweat! today I groveled!

Its a new month, time to sign up for exercise challenges over in the exercise forum, what new levels can you aspire to and work hard and move toward!!!! They get me going each month, I swear I need them to propel me forward!!! This month I am loosing weight!!! Heading right towards my final goal of 135...

          Re: Sunday Morning

Good morning! Seeing Jess's inspiration this morning is starting the day off great!

I'm OFFICIALLY starting induction again today! And going for a CLEAN induction at that!

Most of June proved to me once again that Carbland isn't where I want to be. I don't know how consistently I'll lose weight until the medicines I have to take are at the right amount. Doctors and others keep saying six months before things shake out.

Whatever! I'm not waiting. There's so many other benefits to this WOE besides weight loss and I'm going for them NOW!

And the learning curve I'm going through with my own body has shot up. Here's something I totally did NOT expect! I'm not having problems with Splenda! I made Dom's Cheesecake a few days ago, and should have been down for the count with the half a cup of Splenda. I'm fine! I'm so thrilled because a whole batch of recipes opens up to me! I'll still use it sparingly but at least I don't have avoid it anymore.

Jess - I totally agree with Atkins being a gift. Dr. Atkins used his gifts from above to tell us how best way to nourish our bodies. It's up to us to accept and use it! After a month of being denied this gift, by gummy, I'm going for it!

Sandy - Thank God for mini-fresh starts for anything throughout the year. We've got to make this month count. Try some modest goals with the exercise challenges; I'm signing up for them shortly here.

Buffy - Good for you!! Others more than likely wouldn't be willing to change their schedule to accomodate you... well, obviously he sure doesn't want to! LOL!! There are times to give in and times to be stubborn. This is one of those times to be stubborn - we're developing a way of life for our health. If someone doesn't like it, fine, they can be left behind.

Jess again - So close to your goal!! I'm so thrilled for you!

          Kick butt, folks!

            Re: Sunday Morning

Good morning. Weigh day for me. I am down 4 pounds since returning from vacation. Very exciting for me. I am also less than ten pounds from goal! Yay! I have been slacking on my exercise, though, so today is the day I restart.

I cleaned out my closets on Friday. Packing up and/or getting rid of sizes too big and trying on some smaller sizes. I am between a size 6 & 8 now. I started at a tight 14 (really probably should have been a 16, but just couldn't bring myself to buy that next bigger size). I'm amazed at what a difference three months has made! I still have a ways to go for my body to look the way I want it to. More tightening up from working out than actual weight loss, but I still have some work to do, that is for sure.

After I got back from vacation I made a big pot of my new favorite soup that I took to work all week. This weekend I made low carb lasagne and chocolate mousse that I will also use for lunch. I love baking this stuff and it tastes soooo good. I feel satisfied after I eat instead of sluggish. I never want to go back to hitting fast food joints every day between clients. I never want to go back to feeling uncomfortable in my clothes --- and in my own skin!

I'm so happy that I am here and that there is so much great support on this board...

Terry, mornin hon, glad to see you starting a clean induction today and setting exercise goals too. We are all worth the efforts to put time into ouselves for once. I was always putting others first. Not anymore, I did a 360 on everyone, now it's about me so I can live longer, healthier and happier, just so I can be around for them! Well Last month I made it a clean induction all the way through the month. I lost 20 lbs. That's a total of 120 lbs., and 43 inches gone FOREVER! I lost more inches but didn't include my arms and legs. I've got 55 lbs to reach onederland and am more determined this time around to do so thanks to ALL of you and your support and inspirations. Today I'm planning out the exercise for for the month ahead and trying to decide if I want to move into owl. I'm very content on extended induction so I'll probably play it by ear, so to speak, on that. I'm wishing all of you a safe and legal Sunday! Sincerely Sherri

Crazy thing here, I suddenly thought I may have blown it already with sour cream. But I just found in DANDR that one ounce is allowed. WHEW!!

Wow...hard to live up to all these wonderful inspirational posts this morning

You are all such wonderful, inspirational and supportive friends. I know that it would have been much more difficult for me to progress on this journey if it hadn't been for all of the great people here. So, thank you all!

Losing weight on Atkins for me is a bonus. I will embrace this lifestyle and WOE forever. Why I really love low carb eating is because of the change it has made in my health. It has given me a new found freedom to do "normal" thinks that most people take for granted. When you have IBS you are limited to so many things. You can't eat before you go on a trip in a car, even a short trip. You can't eat while out shopping. You worry about travelling in every regard. Well, unless you have a porta-potty strapped to your behind. Its horrible feeling like you have the "flu" all the time and have to rush (and I mean rush) sometimes to find the nearest bathroom. Believe me, I know the location of many a bathroom.

But, all that is over for me now, with the severe reduction of carbs and the cutting out of sugar I would like to say I am cured of the prison I used to call IBS. I am sooooooo thankful.

I have my ups and downs but I just have to remember how I felt before starting Atkins again and compare it to how I feel now and no food on earth is worth that.

Have a great legal day everyone! Hugggggggs!
