    Morning! Happy Freedom Week!

Freedom. That's what this WOL is for me!!!.

I was at a friends house for din din last night. She started working from home about 4 months ago and with added stresses she has put on some weight. She has decided to go back to WW, but, she is too embarassed to actually go because of the shame of weight. So, she's doing it from home.

Anyway, she descibed to me how her Sat went. She had 7 shortbread cookies. She beat herself up about it and her self talk was horrible. She then decided that she wasn't going to talk to herself that way again and made a turning point.

So, here's the long way to the point I'm trying to make. At that moment, I told her that I had been there. I told her that the reason I stay true to this WOL is because for me, it is FREEDOM from the diet mentality and my self talk. I truly believe it.

Can anyone relate to this? Have you realized the FREEDOM?

    Always Curious,

          Good morning,
I agree, freedom is awesome, I love the "no guilt" thing. I love to eat and not feel miserable afterwards. I know i'm doing something "good" for my body.

I was bad Saturday night, My kids were flying back from a visit w/ Grandparents and their plane was delayed 4 hrs. there was rain and hail at the airport so the it shut down and the plane diverted. In a panic, i drug hubby to the airport bar and drank a glass of wine . Although it calmed my nerves, it also knocked me out of ketosis and i gained a pound. I did not cheat on any food though. the kids made it in safe....all is good, no more alcohol for me......lesson learned.

          Have a great day!!!!!!

            Good Monday Morning Everyone!

I too have found the freedom. Freedom from restricting health issues which I no longer have to deal with because of this WOL. I couldn't ask for anything more, well the weight loss associated with it is a nice bonus... Its great to be free from the carb and sugar prison I used to dwell in. Its bright and sunny out here in low carb land. . Life is good.

I don't refer to this as a diet, its a lifestyle.

Sandy...you will get through this week...we know it...you're strong girl!

Jess...as always an inspirational message. You are motivation to so many.

Kelly...isn't it great to be able to "brag" to people about how you feel and still be eating all these yummy foods. I bet they are envious!

Buffy...well said, as this WOL truly is "freeing". As I stated above, I can relate big time. I lived in a diet mentality nearly all of my life as I have been dieting nearly all of my life. This is so much better of an alternative. I wish I would have escaped to "freedom" long ago, but I'll take it now!

            Have a Great Day everyone!

              Re: Monday Roll Call

Blazing--a glass of wine has about 4g carbs, and unless you went above your CCLL, alcohol shouldn't knock you out of ketosis. Your body simply has to burn the alcohol first, then it resumes fat-burning. The pound is water retention, most likely from dehydration from the alcohol. That's good news! So get back on plan, and drink your water!

I know what you mean about FREEDOM. If I'm hungry, I eat. I never feel deprived. I LOVE OWL, because it has taught me what foods I can eat and what I should NOT eat. So I have confidence in my decisions. I don't FEAR food or OBSESS over it anymore. I just enjoy every bite of what I have, and I never eat things I don't like--there are so many choices, why waste time and money eating junk?

Ahhhh today is my first "official" day of summer break! Summer School finished on Friday, so now I've got the whole day to be lazy. Actually, I'll be doing laundry and sorting clothes, and doing some general cleaning. I'm also planning a 4 or 5 mile run and going to Boot Camp class tonight. Hardly lazy at all!

              Have a great day, STACers!

                  Re: Monday Roll Call

I too have arrived at that spot....freedom! No more "willpower" talks with myself. I don't need willpower anymore, it's just natural. And I also refuse to call this a "diet" and won't allow others to ask me about a "diet" - I tell them it's not a diet, that I will be getting off of once I reach my goal.

My loss has slowed now that I just have a few more lbs to go, but I'm actually quite fine with that! I like the way I look and feel and that is so much better than several weeks and 20+ lbs ago.

                  Have a great day everyone!

                    Hi All,

Back from vacay and swamped here at work but couldn't start my day without checking in on all you guys. (And brag alittle...lost 3 lbs. since I left and am expecting TOM any day..should be good for a couple more I hope)

I fell short of water consumption but am back on track with that today. Had only a couple slips on this WOL but bumped up exercise hugely and hope (no, wait...P L A N) to continue now that I am home. Oh, and beware of IHop omlets....they add pancake batter to "make them fluffy"?!?!?!?!? To me it wasn't "fluffier" just bigger and gross. Didn't notice the description on the menu until AFTER I ordered it...

Looking forward to catch up on things with all you guys once I battle this pile on my desk and delete all useless emails. (I may burn up a bunch of calories just hitting the delete button!)

I felt the freedom of this WOE during vacation. NOT hungry AT ALL. Even had to force myself to eat a few times. I also feel free from the never ending question of days gone by...."what am I going to eat?????" It's easy now, whatever I have I love and it makes me feel SATISFIED.

                    Have a great day!

What great messages of inspiration everyone!! Fantastic.

You are correct, this isn't a 'diet' 'shudder how I hate that word' it's just the way we choose to live our lives.

Smoked about 15 pounds of chicken yesterday, it's absolutely marvelous. Most likely freezing alot of chicken this evening. When I fire up the smoker, I make it worth my while all day.. haha. Dang......I should have taken a picture and posted it!! Man that bites!! The chicken was gooooooood.

Anyway, happy freedom week, don't have a lot of time to talk today, gotta get work done, so I can enjoy the holiday with my family.

Looking forward to no gigs until next weekend, a day off, a nice cool iced drink ( caffiene free of course....) on the deck next to my darling wife, with a small fire in the deck fireplace while watching the fireworks go off. (with my trusty scared of fireworks dogs sitting practically in my lap haha.....) they love their daddy!!!

Talk to you all tomorrow......great messages.....I love it!!

                        Good Morning STAC'rs,

That's a great way to think about this WOL, Freedom. It really is freedom from carb addiction, and wow, how freeing is that!!!

I had such success when I followed the WOE a couple of years (why I stopped???? )and I know the control it provides and I can't wait to get that feeling back.

I'm a little nervous (and excited) about my vacation. I'm off starting tomorrow, but I'm prepared and my cooler is packed with all that is low carb, my own Atkins pantry "to go"! And we'll be busy swimming, walking, hiking and such, so no slacking on exercise! I can't wait!

Hey, everyone! I haven't checked in in awhile. It's been a little crazy. Having trouble with some arrangements for summer school. Also, trying to get my little business off the ground. That's taking up quite a bit of my time. Still getting in my exercise, but my water has been off. Can tell the difference, too. Need to get back in the game!

Hi all, Day 10 of my restart is almost over. I agree totally with the no diet mentality. This is a life change. I mean people don't ask vegetarians if they are on a diet. It's just a lifestyle. The only one that can clear my mind and give me energy. I hope all of this week is great for everyone.
