Good morning STACers, man my life has really changed in a year. Is your life changing? Are you taking some of that amazing energy and getting active? Within a month of starting Atkins, I was outside in the evenings doing something! I loved it. Dragged my family to parks and walked in the woods...I couldn't run as yet. Seems we were out to walk in all the surround ing parks we could find! That was great stuff.

What are you doing with your new life and energy? How are you living with the shift away from just sitting and eating all the time...I know a few of you are training for races. Some of you are riding bikes and exercising in new ways! This is all part of doing Atkins, exercise is not an option.

It changes things when you make yourself get up and get going, it's empowering in that respect and it also really lifts your mood by adding endorphines to the mix! You are usally never sorry you exercised because you feel great afterwards...

    Think about it!

    Good Morning, Everyone!

Jess, that endorphine high is so much better than a sugar high! And, much more healthy. I was reading another forum and Joy had said that she always thought that the other people that described the high of exercising and the way it makes you feel. She thought those folks were "whack jobs." Now, she is a self proclaimed "whack job!"

I am now a self proclaimed whack job. Sometimes exercise doesn't feel good until after you are done.

Anyway, tonight I'm running a 5K in downtown Jax. We are actually running over a bridge and then back. Beer and music afterward. No beer for Buffy, though.

    Have a great day everyone!

      Good morning everyone,
I see a few of us are up early on a Saturday, that impressive. I'm up early for a women's brunch at church, and I know there is going to be lot's of goodies. I'm taking my oriental (carb friendly) slaw. No one knows it's carb friendly, so that's good. I will not cheat, I will not jeapordize what I worked so hard for.

Jess, you are right about the extra energy, I have a ton of it, and I swear I can actually feel myself burning fat all day. The best part is that I don't have highs and crashes all day...i hated my life like that.

Buffy, you are right about exercise, it is the best high. I hope you do well on your 5k, and good for you for doing no beer.

Moving into OWL was smart for me, I lost 3 pounds since doing it.

        Re: Sat morning Roll Call

Good morning! I love sleeping in. Getting up at 4:00/4:30 every morning during the week, I just LOVE sleeping until 6:00 or 7:00 on weekends.

Great motivational message there, Jess. I remember last time how much energy I had after loosing all that weight and getting up and moving. I know exercise is not an option, but it really REALLY hard to make yourself exercise when you only have maybe three hours a day "to yourself" as it were. Working 10 hour days and driving an hour each way on top of it...well...I know, excuses, excuses. I'm still thinking about joining the gym my nephew goes to. It would only cost $20 a month since I'm family.

Oh...and I got a really excellent revelation this morning!!!!!!! I've been reading my new scale wrong! I really need to get some glasses...and that's no joke. Anyway, I've got a set of scales that have little moveable arrows so you can mark weights for whatever reason. I marked my starting weight (240), and two mini goal weights and the ultimate goal weight. Well, it seems somehow I read it wrong and thought it was telling me I was down to 235 for week and I was getting a tad (just a tad) upset that I hadn't lost anything all week! But this morning I got on it and it had moved one more pound down...and in so doing, made me realize that it didn't say 235 but 230! And because of the pound down this morning, I'm actually at 229!!!! I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!!

Okay, enough blabbing...just wanted to share me extreme excitement in being down 11 pounds in 2 weeks of induction! I was wanting to move on to level one of OWL because of frustration and wanting berries...but maybe I'll stay here another week...or two.
        Drink more water!

Good morning everyone! Everyone sounds great today! I seem to be lacking in the energy department, but I think it's because I've slacked off on exercise and also because my work is so boring right now. The weather is supposed to be superb here this weekend and I will make a point of exercising.

Buffy, dh has an interview in JAX next week. I don't know if anything will come of it, but it's exciting to think of the possibility of moving there.

          Happy weekend to all.

            Morning All!

As usual Jess, you make us think when we read your inspirational messages. Thanks.

Buffy...I too read Joy's message about her being a "whack job"...and now you are one too! Me...I'm not there and just said in a post the other day that I don't think I'll ever be one of those people who crave exercise. Maybe some day I'll eat my words!

Blazing...Good for you, preparing and taking carb friendly food with you to church

Byker...Yayyyy...way to go! What a great surprise being down more weight than you thought you were. Keep up the great work and don't be afraid to move to owl. I was at a stall until I moved on, it happens to lots of people I guess.

Sheepie...I too am lacking a bit of energy these days. I was trying to blame it on the heat, then looked around and saw that so many others live places just as hot as I have here now...so no excuse. I have slacked off on the exercise too and I know thats a culprit. So...lets both get back on that!!!

Keep it Legal people and have a good weekend!

              Good Morning Everyone,

Jess thanks for kicking off the posting today on the subject of exercise. I have been doing 30 minutes of treadmilling every morning solid for the last two weeks now and I see the mph going up all the time. I can now do 4.0 comfortably! I have also been going outside at night and kicking the soccer ball around with my daughter. We are getting ready for soccer camp next week and then the fall season. It has been so much fun and it feels so good too, you are right.

Today we are going to see Hairspray and I have my snacks lined up. Sometimes it is hard to sit in the theater and smell the pop corn or see the red licorice (one of my favorites) but like Blaze I have to tell myself that I am not going to risk what I have worked so hard for, it isn't worth it. Besides my husband told me yesterday that I look good and he noticed I am losing weight. That is worth a million buckeroos!

Byker....aren't revelations wonderful? Especially when they are in your favor LOL

Sheepie...just do it! Some times you just gotta force yourself to exercise. Remember to squeeze in some time for you because you are worth it.

Buffy...I am a whack job too and getting whacked'erd and whacked'erd by the day. Is whacked'erd a word?

Have a great day everyone! Love you guys

                    Good morning, everybody!

I see some great posts here this morning...it looks like everyone is working hard and seeing results. Congrats to those who have lost pounds!

Today my boyfriend and I are going to do some preparation stuff for our vacation, I'm very excited! I made Nicole's flax granola recipe (2 batches) yesterday, and tomorrow, we're making loads of caribou and venison jerky for the trip.

I'm planning a good workout today, bike miles and upper body, as well as pushups and crunches. Maybe some pilates later in the afternoon. No running today, as I'm going for a run tomorrow morning. Sunday is usually my "off" day, but I am going to take my day of rest on Thursday this week, because that's the first "real" day of our vacation and we have a LOT of driving to do that day--not much chance for exercise when you're going 70 down the highway.

                    Have a great day, STACers!

It's a good morning here! Went out and did 6 mile walk with dh and our dog Mia... feels great to get that out of the way. Also abs/pushups... fell on bike yesterday so knee is skinned up a little and back hurts a little but think no major damage is done. Yeah! Feels so good to exersize and push yourself harder! Dh said 'we should hike every Saturday' Right On! So glad when he walks with me, so much more fun.
Very good bykerdruid... congrats on the wt loss! Whhoooo hooo!

good morning...actually it's noon here, so good afternoon! i had a great morning. i got up and went for a two mile walk, then i met a new man for breakfast at a great coffee shop here in duluth, then took my daisydog to the dog park...now i am getting ready to go to work. i agree about the exercise...i actually miss it when i don't get out and do something. i find exercise very motivating for me...it helps me feel good about my self and that helps me keep my self nurturing in the forefront of my mind.

buffy, good luck with your run this evening! i'm so proud of you!

Well, once again, it is no longer morning, but I wanted to insert my "hello" to all. I am just getting on the exercise kick. Not much really, just walking in the eveing with my daughters at the track, but it is something. Can really only do a mile right now and that is a little painful as for some reason I either a bladder or kidney infection trying to creep up on me. I started meds two days ago so that should take care of that. The exercise makes me feel good definitely in a mental capacity. I still get the afternoon blahs at work. Surely this too will pass as I lose more weight and am able to get completely of of rx for anxiety. Hope everyone has a blessed day.
