I have returned to Atkins and the lo carb way of eating. I can not really tell you were I have started at weight wise, but clothes wise, I'm back into my big clothes. I'm on my second week of induction and the benefits of the plan are already kicking in. I really do not get hungry unless I just go too long without eating. There are a few things that I have changed this go around. No mind you at my most successful point on the Atkins plan I went from 315 to right below 250... I am 6'2" and never was a small creature. I have been a "bear" even after starvation of a few special ops type survival courses. The lowest weight that I can remember is in 1983 after a "mini-Ranger camp" I weighed right at 215.
What I've changed this time:
Portions: Before and for my entire life, I just eat too darned much food way too often and I'm a stress eater! I know am forcing my self to get the heck away from the table and stay the heck out of the kitchen.
Lower fat content: I have been eating less fat in the meats and limit the use of butter. I know they are allowable, but what stuck with me is one poster's sig line from a while back. It was something like "Dr Atkins not say that calories don't count, He said don't count the calories.
VERY limited snacks: and then only zero carb items like lean meats or pork rinds. I do not bring snacks to work with me and I there are no sources of food where I work. There is a snack machine there, but it has no interest from me.
No time lounging at the house: I was working a night job and my days off (nights off) consisted of sitting in the house alone (everyone else was asleep) bored to tears with no real controls on eating. I now work a job that is 7 days a week and ten hours or more per day. I like the work, and it keeps me busy enough to not think about eating.
I may have screwed up to some of you folks by not really starting a difinative weight tracking schedule but I know this plan works and I don't really care how much I weigh now because I will get down to a healthier weight as this proceeds.
I'm glad to be back on course and thank everyone for being here to fall back on and discuss things with.

I wish I had your willpower about the snacks. I *always* want snacks.
