  • I was hoping for more!

    I was doing so well, and then I weighed myself this evening. I went from 214.6 to 213.8. I figured it would be at least 2 pounds gone by now! Should I be worrying to early? I just started 4 days ago. Yeah, I'm probably worrying needlessly right?

    Oh, I still have ketostix from 2 years ago. Does anyone know if these things actually expire? Mine is just a light/medium pink colour when I test it.

    You cannot weight day 4. Its just too soon. Wait the full 3 weeks they you will see the weight come off. Also if you haven't yet take measurements. to see inches gone helps when the scale is not moving

        You should never ever weigh in the evening. Always first thing in the morning after the pee heh. At the end of the day you'll have water retention and the weight of any food in your body, just a bad idea.

          Here's my advice: Either weigh yourself every morning, or just once every two weeks.

          I do both. I know, weird. But I weigh myself every morning, just out of idle curiosity. The two-week weigh-in is my report weight.

          Why every morning not just every few days? Because by golly, that water thing changes the weight by POUNDS up AND down, with no rationality whatsoever. Example: As of a given day, I'd be x pounds. The next morning, for no reason, I'd be x plus 1.5 lbs. Now, I didn't GAIN weight. But if I'd only weighed on the second day, I'd be mighty bummed!

          Here's some other weird info: Last time I did this woe, I lost NOTHING in the first week, and only a couple of pounds in the second. Then I went on to quite quickly lose about 25 lbs. I'm losing faster in the first week this time. But my experience tells me that it means absolutely nothing for the longer term.

          So hang in there!

            they do expire Amy but i still have mine from 3 years ago and they work just fine!

            be a weekly weigher, dont be a slave to the scale!

              I tend to do the same thing as Evermind...weigh every morning but it is just to see what the foods I ate the previous day did to me...that is how I learned that olives mean 4-5 pounds in water retention (I love Kalamatas) and that it takes a good 3 days for it to go away. As far as official weigh in...that is weekly, and for right now, I am waiting for the end of induction to see and measure! Don't rely on what you are seeing after just 4 days...it is WAY too soon...Good luck! and

                Well, you've been on diet only during 4 days, this is not enough, why torture yourself so soon? Be patient, it takes like two weeks, to see results, maybe before, but I recomend you, wait until week number 2...
                And do it at morning. Have a nice day! and keep strong to see results!

                  Thanks for the positive remarks and the gentle chiding (which I totally need). I should not be weighing myself this early. I forgot about that part of induction! I started at the gym a week ago and, conveniently, there is a scale right there in the change room. I didn't want to do it, but it called to me! It showed that I was down 4 pounds so, of course, I had to get a second opinion! But then when I weighed myself later in the evening on a new pair of digital scales at my MIL's house, I was down less than a pound. I wonder if it's a conspiracy by the gym to keep me going? *LOL*
