I thought I'd come in and introduce myself.
I am 41, a librarian and mother of a baby boy and four year old girl. I did Atkins back in Sept of 2003 and had great success. I lost 50 lbs in four months but then somehow ran out of steam and it all crept back in the ensuing years. There are more boring details of the last four years in my journal here in Journal Chat. I am 5'8" and as of today, on my 7th day of induction, weigh 248, down five pounds.
I am giving it a go again, this time with a completely different mindset. Not losing weight but permanently changing the way I eat. I actually did learn something the last time around, so it wasn't a total waste. I was so excited then by all the low carb foods that I could eat, never mind that I never normally ate candy bars or the other low carb treats. I learned that for me, artificial sweeteners just don't work in the long run, they seem to fuel the desire to eat sweets. I am committed to moving to more whole foods, less (hopefully next to no) processed foods and better choices all around.
Another big problem was no suppport, so I am very glad to be here.
