  • I WantSweets!!!

    Hi Peers,

    What is making me want sweets so bad?? Is it mental or physical thing or what?? I have been at this for about 3 days and I am carving any thing sweet.

    There was a package of sugar teasing me all day today

    Please Help

    This is your body in withdrawal from refined sugars and nasty carbs. Your mind is going to tell you that you want sugar or Doritos, because it is protesting not getting what it is so used to.

    So, what works? Honestly, the thing that works is eating something high in fat. Frequently. Something that is mostly fat, in fact. Cheese. Whipped cream. Cream Cheese. Bacon. For some reason, eating high fat content foods diminishes the craving.

    As soon as your body detoxes, you won't have such cravings. Although I personally have a HUGE sweet tooth and I indulge it pretty regularly when I'm on this woe - using splenda.

      Hello, I take L-Glutamine whenever I crave something sweet. It doesn't help for superstrong cravings but it does help. I've been back on Atkins for 6 weeks and I still crave sweets almost everyday! And Evermind is correct too. Eating something fatty (I like half an advocato) works too. Good Luck. You will get through this!

        Don't sweat it, I craved sweets for a while, but now I don't even think of it. Been on this WOE since 28 May 07, and now I don't even think about sweets.

          Drink a glass of water and picture youself at your ideal weight. The cravings shoud pass and then become more infrequent. Good luck!

            Another tip that works for some is to eat something sour like a pickle when you crave 'sweet' to kill your sugarmonster.
