  • Water Retention

I have reached day 10 of induction and I am still retaining water. I have severely cut my usage of salt and don't understand why I still feel like a beached whale. Could my allergy medicine be the problem. I'm taking Claritan D right now 'cause the weather here in Indiana is a nightmare. Before this past week, I was only taking it as needed but we have been in the 90's with very high humidity so I've had to take them daily. Not taking any other meds except for vitamins and it's not yet my TOM so I'm confused. Help!!!!

P.S.- drinking around a gallon of water daily, so I don't think that's the issue.

    Re: Water Retention

I'm in the same place (close to 2 weeks) and having the exact same problem. I have no idea what the cause is, but I've decided to ignore it for now. I have lost more in this induction than I did in the other two, by about 2x, so I think maybe my body is just hanging on to anything to replace that fat for dear life.

This weather is awful, so it's better to have too much water than be dehydrated! Hang in there!
    Start date: 7/29/2007

    Scale: SW:235 CW:193
    GW:150

Tape Measure: I've lost 42.5 inches as of 3/15/2008

    Mini goals:
    215 - met 9/10/07
    205 - met 10/17/07
    195 - met 2/20/08
    180

    I survived a two-month stall!

Just an FYI that Dr. Atkins says in his Vitanutrient Solution book that the amino acid Taurine is good for water retention.
