  • expecting too much

    i'm a little bummed because its day three and i'm not in ketosis yet. the ketostix hasn't changed at all. the last two times i did induction, i was in ketosis by the end of day two. plus, the scales has gone up a pound. the only thing i'm doing differently is i drank some TAB. im going to cut that out and see if it gets me anywhere. i'm not going to give up, i know this works! i'm just disappointed today.

    Yea I have a feeling when I look im gonna be disappointed guess it sucks seeing the glass half empty.

      on the bright side, we know its gonna work if we stick with it. i'm keeping that in mind today. i WILL get there, the weight WILL come off, i WILL get into ketosis because atkins works! just gotta hang in there! i'm keeping my fingers crossed that you see results!! let me know how it goes if you get a chance!

        You can do it. Just hang in there and eventually you'll start seeing results.

          Ive not checked for Ketosis, but my daughter informs me my breath is absolutely rancid!! So I probably am. Im not going to say stay off the scales, but try to reduce it down to every other day. Last time, it was well into the second week before I saw any significant weight loss.

            I think I'm expecting too much too. I'm on day 13 and was down 8 lbs. but then the scale showed up 2 lbs. this morning I know I shouldn't get on the scale til my two week marker, but I CAN'T HELP IT. I'm hoping it was from my high sodium intake yesterday and today I'm trying to drink a lot of water and avoid the salt.

            Maybe it's the sodium in your Tab? Don't let it get you down--we just have to stay with it.

              I've pretty much just stopped worrying about it!!! Like watching a pot of water start to boil, when you finally just give up and walk away is when you don't NOTICE what's been happening. I lost three more pounds last week. I'll give myself another couple of weeks to check again. I was going to wait two weeks this time, but I had to fix the scale... the batteries were not working right... LOL..

                  Read the book, Tyler! Ketosis is when you start burning fat instead of carbohydrates. It happens when you lower your carbs to the 20 per day and up your fat.

                  I never did the Ketostix, I can tell when I'm in ketosis--maybe TMI, but I sweat a lot at night on the day I hit ketosis. Otherwise, when I know I'm following the plan--I don't worry about it. I also feel the extra energy and the calming of my mood. If you're going to get upset about the stix, get rid of them and just follow the plan.

                    Glad to see you here. We all have had those days when we don't feel like we are making any headway. They stink. But, if we follow the plan our reward will come. This time around the best thing I have learned is patience. I think it is harder when we first start because we have more expectations and therefore more disappointments. Once we hit our stride with this WOE we can look back and say, I was there 3 months ago and NOW look at me!!!! It IS paying off.... time is no longer the focus and good health is.

                    Post often. This Second Time Around Club is so supportive. It is great to learn from people who have been there.......and understand.

                      i tried with the ketostix again this morning and it was a moderate level pink- i'm officially into ketosis!! i just like to know when i'm burning the fat. it motivates me and i think i cant cheat because i'm burning fat and it took me days to be able to do that. i haven't hit the induction flu yet, but i'm feeling a little tired. still haven't lost anymore weight, but atleast i know that i'm burning fat now. i need to drink my water. i've been slacking on that. anyone know if crystal light is legal? or of some other kind of flavored water i can drink?? i love this forum! everyone is so helpful! thanks guys!
