  • 2-week update

Well it appears that I lost 4 pounds on induction (yesterday was day 14). The last time I was on Atkins, I lost the same amount during induction. I'm really feeling down as it seems like every post I read about people doing induction lose way more than that. What could be wrong?

A typical day for me would be:

    2.2 L of water

    Breakfast
bacon and eggs or just eggs with butter

    Snack
1 Cheese string or a few pieces of regular cheddar cheese

    Lunch
Some type of meat or chicken, sometimes a little sour cream for dipping

    Supper
Salad made up of 3 cups of lettuce, endive and raddichio, few pieces of bacon, shredded cheese and 3-cheese ranch dressing, sometimes tuna.

Sometimes I have a jello sweetened with sucralose for a snack...

That is about all the veggies I can handle.

More protein!!! I would have some veggies with lunch instead of all of them at dinner. Also stop the jello for awhile. Did you take your measurement when you began induction. Are your clothes getting loose?? Don't get discouraged!!

Take the candida test. You find it in the candida forum. It may be your problem.

Girlfriend, are you reading the book....eat more food! Eating more of these foods is important, and feeling full and satisfied keeps you going and happy...Maybe your body knows what's going on, and soon it will figure out you are in control and it will allow you to loose weight....Reading and creating a way of eating on Atkins that develops into a lifestyle will truly help you release the pressure to have weightloss now....and allow you the pleasusres of this way of eating....Just keep going, it will come off...
Are you exercising, that's also a huge key in all of this....begin today getting out and walking, or hoping on some equipment and moving, get out and about for 20mins a day at first, just doing your best.....

              Re: 2-week update

I don't like too many veggies and 3 cups is not enough to split into more than one salad. I do exercise, I joined a gym several weeks ago. I usually go 3-4 times a week, not much time this week tho. I do 10 mins on elliptical, 15 mins on treadmill, and some strength-training machines.

Yes, definitely read the book, a few times over actually.

Maybe my downfall is my picky palate and the fact that I am a terrible cook. I cut out the sucralose starting yesterday. I will do the candida test. I am thinking that I'm metabolically resistant. (FIGURES! LOL)

I don't know what else I can eat since I don't like veggies much. I wander around the grocery store trying to find something I can eat. I like sandwich meat but I cannot seem to find ANY without sugar in it.

I was depressed and had a can of diet pepsi last night. On the upside, it tasted terrible!!! Won't be having one of those again.

                Darlin'

You can make a one-cup salad to eat with your cheese snack or with your meat lunch.

3 cups is an enormous salad. It can easily be split into two - part in the a.m. and part at dinner. And you should be getting more protein at dinner.

You may be a horrible cook, but you can do a lot of things with veggies, including smother them with cheese (cheddar, monterey Jack, parmesan).

                  Re: 2-week update

I know exactly what you can do that will jump start your successes. The answer is suprisingly simple.

                  Ready?

Stop beating yourself up! You lost an AMAZING 4 pounds!! During this WOE every pound counts and measuring your accomplishments against everyone elses will do nothing but cause you to doubt yourself and think you aren't doing well enough.

But you are! You've lost weight. That's what counts--not the amount.

If you keep at it, eventually you'll find yourself at the number you want. Whether it takes longer than others is up to your body. Listen to it and go at its pace.

Don't be so hard on yourself. It's only weight loss.
