    I've never started roll call before--can't seem to get to bed, so here's my chance.

    What have you discovered doing Atkins?

    This week I discovered my collar bone. I knew it was there--just haven't seen it in years.

    I've also discovered a new attitude and outlook on my life and my way of eating. I've discovered that exercise makes me feel good and helps the weight come off faster.

    Caryl, great job, you are a natural at starting this thread...
    I've discovered balance! I've discovered ways to maintain and sustain...I discovered you can visualize being here in a year, and take steps every single day to achieve that visualization...I've discovered, "one day at a time" is a great idea...keeping coming back each and every day!

      Jimminy Christmas!!!! What time do you guys get up???? I'ts not even 5:00 am here! I got woke up by the dogs and now I can't get back to sleep because of the freight train snoring in the bedroom. Oh well....

      What have I discovered doing Atkins? Hum....I take it you mean on this "second time around thing"? Cause the first time was like WOW! I discovered a waist and energy and low blood sugar and... But we're talking second time around... This morning I discovered another pound gone! YIPPEEE!

      I've discovered patience. In the "old days" of fad diets, I was always so anxious for the weight to come off, and when it didn't come off fast enough I got discouraged and "fell off" the diet. Course, I was usually frustrated with the kinds of food I ate, too. Gallons of cabbage soup, nothing but lettuce salads, baked to bone dry chicken breasts...yuck.

      But on Atkins, it's delicious foods. Juicy, tender meats of all kinds, salads heaped with eggs, ham, cheese and creamy dressing. Sauces made with real cream. REAL butter!!!!!!!!!

      And when the scales don't move, like they had not for a week until this morning, not to worry. Because if the pounds aren't coming off...the inches are. And eventually, the pounds just have to follow because you can only replace so much of it with muscle and soon the fat loss exceeds the muscle gain and off slide the pounds. Patience. Always maintain your patience...it WILL come off. Maybe not as fast as one might like, but rely on your clothes because it's not just about the pounds, it's also about the INCHES!

      Oh, and I've also discovered control. It's much easier to say no to the blubber creating goodies like cakes and candys and soda pop.
      Drink more water!

        Good morning! I've discovered that I don't need dh to do this too for me to succeed! He quit Atkins, but says he's coming back. Doesn't matter, I can do it anyway.

        By the way, I think we're going to a water park today. Practical question. How should I carry my money and stuff? Does one person just sit out to watch my purse, or is there a more practical solution? I haven't been to a water park in decades but I'm actually going to put on my bathing suit and go out in public!!

          I discovered how much better I feel when I'm eating the Atkins WOE. Less processed foods without the junk in them does this body good. Better hair, better nails, better health overall. When I do low-fat diets or allow all the sugar, white flour, or corn syrups into my meals, I feel like ...ahem!... total crap! Rotten stomachs, foggy heads, achy muslces and joints are all the stuff that goes away when I eat real foods.

            Loose Shoes way to go on starting the thread, a collar bone is actually a very beautiful item on a women, so congrats on finding it again.

            Jess balance is a key around here, and isn't it great to have balance everyday in your life....no more rollercoasters.

            Byker you are right, the scales are whacky, but at least we have our tape measures. Control goes right along with balance, kind of reminds me of a gymnist (sp?) they have lots of balance control and patience to reach their goals. I thought the weight was going to pour off me this time also. It is dripping off, but it is coming off

            Sheepie We go to water park often here, but we have lockers to carry our money in, I can't think of how to carry it without ruining it. Wow, that sounds like so much fun, I'm envious.

              Sheepie, RENT a locker for a couple of bucks! Thats' how you do it...or keep it locked in the glove box of the car and just carry in your keys....

                Michelle girl keep in mind you are also trading in fat space for lean muscle space, and often the scales just hold still...I am sure your clothing size will reflect this, your inches...are you guys measuring yourselves....
                Listen up the tape measure is a much better friend than a Scale is....
                Scale can't tell you how you have changed what's in the same space...Lean muscle takes up less space, but weighs the same as fat....

                  It's amazing how insightful we can become in the wee hours of the morning!!

                  I've discovered that I am a better person when I feel good about myself and being proactive in getting well. (Yes, I think of weight loss in terms of beating an illness.)

                  Happy Saturday! Tomorrow is my daughters b-day. She'll be 4.
                  This is her in the kitchen in the morning right before breakfast. She was doing a whirlwind dance that practically knocked everything down-lol.

                    I've discovered.......

                    That Meena Beena's daughter is absolutely adorable.

                    That running is something I CAN do.

                    That I don't have to work out EVERY day in order to be consistent.

                    That, like Terry says, the bad foods make me have aches, pains, lethargy, etc., but eating the good stuff keeps me absolutely peppy.

                    That I occasionally have fond thoughts of Little Debbie Zebra Cakes, but when I think about eating, I crave zuchini, cauliflower, feta, and string cheese.

                    That it is REALLY hard to eat enough calories these days.

                    That I don't really care about the scale - I care about how I feel. And I feel GOOD.

                      Great thread here looseshoes!
                      I've discovered that putting myself first and taking care of me is my first priority and it's not being selfish to do that...
                      I've discovered that habits are hard to break... the one's I've developed come naturally to me now and makes this WOE easier...
                      I've discovered my health and vitality again...
                      I've discovered a group of people on the internet that are warm, caring, funny, supportive and committed to the same WOE/WOL and have become indispensible to this journey.

                          morning yall!! water park sounds great, use a locker or safety pin your car key to your suit or board shorts.
                          have a great one, i am back on 20 carbs or less per day as i seeemed to stall at 20-30, we will see if the pounds/inches start coming off again...

                            Gosh! Can't even procrastinate in peace around here anymore!!!
                            Okay!!!! I did it!!!! I started the C23k program in this horrible miserable heat! I'm dripping wet with sweat! also got in my biking 3 miles and abs and pushups so now I feel FREE!!!!!! Nothing hanging over my head!! Yah! (Thank for the swift kick in the arse Evermind... it got me going! lol. not that I was happy about it, but I am happy now...lol!) see, if I can do this anyone can do it!!!! Sweet Strudel better be out there doing it too... she got me into this!!! lol!

                              I discovered that it really easy to get back on board and do this for a second time.
                              I discovered that I actually really like Spinach!!
                              I discovered that its better to trust the tape measure than the scale.
                              I discovered that I like it that Atkins is no longer 'fashionable'.
