• Stac Goals

Hey, all. September being back-to-school month, and the end of vacations, etc., I was wondering if people would be interested in developing personal goals for that month, and having a thread to announce and report progress for the month. Not a challenge per se, though. With challenges, there are always dropouts and "failures".

For example, I might set a goal to drink 64 oz of water a day, do 600 ab crunches a week, run 3 days, and eat 3 new veggies. Or maybe my goal might be to get my calorie averages up. Whatever works for each person.

Interested?
Start date: 7/29/2007

Scale: SW:235 CW:193
GW:150

Tape Measure: I've lost 42.5 inches as of 3/15/2008

Mini goals:
215 - met 9/10/07
205 - met 10/17/07
195 - met 2/20/08
180

I survived a two-month stall!

Re: Stac Goals

I'm interested. This is just what I need. Mine would be:

1. Switching my one cup of coffee to decaf

2. Move up my water intake to 3L instead of 2L

3. Not getting on the scale / measuring for one week

4. Trying two new veggie recipes per week

This sounds like a great idea. Mine would definately have to be water. I always feel like I'm not getting enough.

Cool. Well, let's take the next ten days or so to contemplate and come up with between 1 and 5 reasonable goals, and then I'll start a thread to get us started for September.

OK, WAIT. I'm having 2nd thoughts....I'm not ready to do #1 yet. I was thinking about it, and you know, I'm already sacrificing my glass of wine at night--so I think I should wait until I hit a plateau to remove my one itty bitty teeny weenie cup 'o' joe....my black lightening....my morning friend. PLUS, if I'm upping my water to 3L I'll be flushing it all out! So, count me in on three of the above.

Yeah, suffering coffee w/drawl here. No headache, I just LOVE it. This is Day 1 for me w/ no coffee.

I have fought the no coffee part until I read a post from Valid Rouge recently. It was as if she was slapping me personally on the head. Soooooooooo, I am going to see if it makes a difference if I can go w/out it. If I do not see any mentionable change after one month, I am going to have my coffee..............

Maybe if I run my self as the "no coffee guinea pig" I will stick to this experiment and can be the "lab results". Wish me luck!

Re: Stac Goals

YES!! This is a recurrent problem for me. I have added it in my diet and taken it out and let me tell you that when I add it...I stall (even GAIN!) and when I remove it, I start to lose again.

Coffee, IMO, is EVIL stuff for some of us--*particularly* with cream and sweetner! There are many many many people here who will tell you "oh, coffee is fine. I've drank coffee the whole time." Yet they will go in other threads and complain that they are losing slow or stalled and won't take a look at their beloved coffee. Even, maybe ESPECIALLY decaf! Decaf gives people a false sense of security. Decaf does not mean "Freebie". It still has caffeine and it still has CARBS. A 12 ounce "cup" of decaf coffee with cream and sweetner can have 4-6 carbs in it depending how many sweetners and how much cream you use. It all adds up!

The other thing I've begun to suspect about coffee is that, since it is a diuretic, when you take it out of your diet and then try to add it back in again--it will FALSELY make you see a loss on the scale because it caused your body to release some water. Then, because of this your body gets dehydrated (even if you are drinking LOTS of water) and it starts RETAINING water...which means a gain on the scale. I think this is what's happening with me. I take it out of my diet, and start doing well again. I decide to add it back in one more time and I get an immediate loss on the scale. HOORAY, it's not the coffee...right??? WRONG! The next week, stall, the next week, gain.
This is from ValidRouge...an expert.
