  • Is it true...

    that the second time around, weight loss might not be as quick? I was looking back in my journal from 2005 and I lost so much, so quickly. Now, it just isn't the same. I am in day 9 and have lost anywhere from 0-2 pounds. I give a range because I think I need a new scale. Perhaps digital instead of mechanical because I weigh two different amounts even if I weigh 10 seconds a part. My wrists are getting smaller and my collar bones are coming back but you know...I'm a numbers person. Plus, I turned down donuts and deep fried and battered chinese food, which for me is a stretch. I guess this means my cravings are fading. I run 4.5 miles each day. Anyway, could anyone confirm or dispell the rumor about 2nd chance Atkins please?

    yeah its true for the most of us, but with hard work and determination you can do it! just remember the 3rd and 4th times are even slower still! so stick to it this time!!

    if your a numbers person how about you make friends with the tape measure instead of the scale?

      Yeah, I've found it to be a little slower. I think the body gets confused the first time, and the second time it says "ok, I know what you are doing, but I'm gonna make you work for it". This is my third time around and it's better than the second but not as good as the first. First time at this point I had lost over 10 pounds, second it was barely 4, this time I'm at 7.

        If you are a numbers person, how about the number,365... I made it all about that number, 365 days I want for my first big goal...and I picked other numbers, 4 of them, which where 4 dates within the year to BE HERE on....so I reach my big number, 365...
        Amazingly when I took that route, I lost 85 lbs...and now I am working on another 365. Lifestyle, and the weight comes off...and this is my 5th time on Atkins, and I am going to a way of life....

          It has been slower for me. But I didn't do Induction for 4-6 months this time either. And I only lost 11 pounds during the 2 week Induction instead of the 16 on the first time. But I KNOW it will work. It did before, it will again. I just have to MAKE it work. Like so many things in life, it only works if you do.

          Just remember that you didn't get fat overnight, you won't get thin overnight. Don't get impatient. And I mean DO NOT get impatient. That's one of my biggest problems and I fight impatience every day. Impatience leads to frustration and frustration leads to failure.

          It isn't coming off on the scale but I can SEE it coming off of my body. THAT's what is important...it IS coming off, one way or the other. When the scale ceases to be your friend, get a tape measure.

            Thanks to all. I was sooooooooooooooooo tempted to get some ice cream today. Instead I got a spinach salad with bell peppers and shrimp and bacon. Don't like salad but it was actually very good. I'll keep up my plan, water, and exercise and hopefully by September I'll see something.

              gottaloose, girl you are gonna know me and hear me coming...I DO KNOW it's important to see something, but are you feeling something, like emense PRIDE at your very good choice of spinach salad??? Are you feeling good about yourself and your choices....I can't tell you how often you have to embrace the good feelings above and beyond any number...because our bodies do things slowly and actually Dr. Atkins says the slower, the better....

                LOL....I hear ya' Outback! I just did a ketone test and it immediately turned very dark. I was sure that I was nowhere near it. Yes, I felt proud because I have always struggled with vegetables. I thought corn was one until the Atkins revelation, LOL!!!
