Ashley, welcome back to Atkins. Go with this inner knowing that says your body does well on Atkins and low carb. Zero in on that, and let that desire lead you, not the desire to eat other things...At first it's a battle, but once you get into ketosis, the cravings start to settle down and you can begin to breathe a little and deal with your food issues....After all at the core is we are using food to comfort and or entertain ourselves....and if we don't deal with the core reasons, we will see it creep back.

Visualize where you want to be in a month....as far as feeling good in your body and seeing it begin to change...Visualize how you want to feel about yourself, and begin to become that person, one bite at a time.

I wrote this somewhat long reply and it vanished

So I will make it shorter - go with what you know just like Jess said.

I too did Atkins in 2004 and lost 75 lbs only to gain it back because I went hog wild and ate EVERYTHING - this way of life didn't fail me, I failed me because I didn't do it right.

My body doesn't process the empty carbs and I finally realize it after many years. Weight Watchers is a great thing, but doesn't work for me. I have to make this my way of life for the rest of my life or I will be fat the entire time. To me that is NOT an option.

You can do it - just focus on what you know, follow the plan and you will succeed.

Keep posting there are many wise ones here with tips, words of encouragement, etc.

Re: I'm afraid to do Atkins again for the millionth time trying!

You give a lot of clues in your post about why you're having difficulty.

First you said that the first time you did this woe, you lost a lot of weight fast. That sounds like a big success, so you can and do lose weight on Atkins. Good to know.

Then you said that the minute you stopped, you gained it all back. That is typical of any diet. And we've all done that here on this particular forum. But the key to Atkins is to NOT stop. You have to go thru all of the stages of Atkins and move into maintenence. That is how you cement the weight loss and keep yourself healthy. If you treat this as a weight loss plan, a diet, you will fail.

Then you said that the last several times you've tried, the weight doesn't budge. Been there, done that. Now you need to stop weighing yourself and use the measuring tape for 12 of the 14 days of induction. Weigh on the first day and the last. And measure yourself on the first, the seventh, and the 14th. You'll see a change. You just need to be patient.

It took me from last December to the end of this past July to get it together enough to be able to stay on induction for more than 5 days. And now that I have, I've lost 17 lbs and I feel fantastic. I just needed to get to the point of WILLINGNESS to commit and COMMITMENT to doing a minimum of 2 weeks before I gave up.

        You can do it.
        Start date: 7/29/2007

        Scale: SW:235 CW:193
        GW:150

Tape Measure: I've lost 42.5 inches as of 3/15/2008

        Mini goals:
        215 - met 9/10/07
        205 - met 10/17/07
        195 - met 2/20/08
        180

        I survived a two-month stall!

Welcome back! I just have one question for you. The first time around did you manage to climb any rungs or did you hang out at induction all that time?

For a lot of people who choose to ectend induction, they get bored with the limited food choices and end up falling off the wagon.

Just curious. I wouldn't worry too much about how much weight you drop as long as you start feeling better in your skin. You can do it--just make that commitment and go for it!

Re: I'm afraid to do Atkins again for the millionth time trying!

Hello! You've done this before, I'm certain you can do it again.

Evermind brought up some very valid facts. Atkins is a way of eating/ way of life. It's best to slowly move up the rungs and think of it as a way of eating, not a diet.

Wishing you well through your journey!

Re: I'm afraid to do Atkins again for the millionth time trying!

All of the responses are spot on. I don't think I can add any better advice, as the best advise has already been given, but I can add my support.

I hem-hawed around trying to restart Atkins on several occassions. I'd do good for the work week and then weekends killed me. I kept saying "one day", and kept saying it and kept saying it. I know my dh got tired of hearing my swear to it then fail. But then "one day"....I just did it and the next and the next and before I knew it I had done a 2 week Induction.

Now I'm close to my 2 month "anniversary", I've joined a gym and haven't missed a single session, and I'm in a smaller pair of jeans. So what if it's slow, at least it's sure. You know that already. Never fear success....embrace it! You work for it, you deserve it.
