  • Want To Stuff My Face...help

    Big changes coming down the pike for DH which are fantastic but scary. He has been offered a job that is fantastic...money is at first a bit less than what he currently makes. But his mental/physical health are more important that money. Plus no weekends or holidays!!

    I'm very happy but scared. Normal course of action is to stuff my face as I'm a stress/emotional eater. So far this afternoon/evening I'm on plan. Probably have gone overboard on red peppers, cukes, & shrimp. Very determined NOT to eat anything not on the list.

    Hey Glenda! Change is good! Health is good! Think about it, he is doing the job for his health and you are doing Atkins for YOURS...that is what is important...way more than stuffing your face...I know you won't give in...

      Food will be a short-term satisfaction - - you will feel horrible once you eat it, we've all been there and done that...otherwise, we wouldn't be here! Don't picture yourself eating the food, picture yourself *after* you eat and how you would feel. Double the stress you feel right now. It's not worth it!

      I keep repeating that old saying "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels" and it is really helping me.

        Hey girl, this is your chance to really modify your relationship with foods, but doing something completely different...take a walk, if possible, a bike ride, something where you get out of yourself and situation and actually work in an opposite way...the endorphines from a strong walk or bike ride or treadmill will make you feel great, and you will have begun the really difficult task of modifying your relationship to food...It can be done, and yes it's hard. But it transforms you.

          Life is filled with changes. The good thing I've learned from doing this WOE is to prepare and make plans for those changes. If I have it written down - I feel more powerful to get through the tough times. When you can't change things around you, it helps to change your attitude towards it and try to find all the positive that can result from it. Your husband will have better health, less stress and you will have more time with him on weekends and holidays.

            Thanks for the replies. I'm happy to report that I didn't "stuff my face" & that was hugh for me. Instead when DH got home & we talked about how we were both feeling & made some plans. Had a great evening & felt at peace with the situation. Today he officially accepted the position & is over the moon with happiness. It was interesting for me to see how quickly an old coping mechanism is so quick to rear its ugly head. Feeling like I'm making some progress one step at a time.
