  • What's your ultimate first day?

    Hey-
Back for another go at it and really need to. I plan to lose bunches but getting past the first day or two is my down fall. I am wondering what is your ultimate first day menu? I am trying to think of some tasty dishes to have ready or get the fixins for. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

I tend to keep things bland and toned way down the first two weeks. That way, when I move up the rungs things taste so yummy.

CKB, I have discovered mock danishes. I like those for breakfast. I know there's a simple recipe on this board in the menu/recipe section. I also like to have omlettes in the morning or the-to-die-for cream cheese pancakes. For lunch it's definately a salad, greens, cucumbers, hard boiled eggs and I LOVE bleu cheese dressing. Dinner I have grilled chicken, and broccoli, or a cheeseburger sans the bun, with bacon and deli mustard. For snacks I make my own "cheez-it" crackers out of cheddar cheese in the oven. Sometimes I have a few olives and I always keep hard boiled eggs on hand.
I started this the other day...take Romaine leaf lettuce and roll with ham or turkey and cheese with whatever you like on a sandwhich, for me its the spicy deli mustard and I roll it up. I've had these for lunch or an afternoon snack. They are awesome, and you can always change what's in them.
I'm with Meena on this one, nothing too fancy for me.

I always start with a steak and salad. It just reminds me that this is a way of eating that I get to enjoy the foods I love, and watch the pounds melt off.

Those are some delicious dishes. Sometimes all I can think of is bacon and lunch meat. Thanks so much for the ideas! And yes do tell about the cheese it's.

Re: What's your ultimate first day?

The first few days are always hard for me as well and for me I find the key is preparation ........... if you have food ready and don't have to push past the hunger to cook or think of something you won't cave as easily. The day before I plan to start induction I have an all out cooking day. I boil a dozen eggs, make mini quiches in muffin tins, Grill hamburgers, chicken, and sausages, slice up a few onions, chop peppers and any other veggies you like for salads, make tuna and egg salad, Make your cheezit's get everything you need for that first week made and in zip lock bags in the fridge then when your hungry it's a matter of a minute in the microwave or throwing a salad together in less then a minute. That my key to survival ........... in fact even now 4 months later I still spend my Sunday after noon setting up my food for the week. With four kids at home and crazy schedules I can't spend time thinking too much about what I need for my food at a given moment especially if I wait to long and I am very hungry it's just a recipie for failure if I didn't.

As far as the cheezit's go what you do is take about a 1/2 cube of your favotire cheese, I use sharp cheddar and swiss. Everyone has a slightly different technique but I put them evenly spaced on a corelle plate ( something glass) then microwave them for about 60-90 sec depends on the size and power of your microwave ...... if you watch them they willl bubble sizzle and look like they are just melting into the plate but when you pop them out and let them cool you can take the tip of a sharp knife and losen them off the plate and wala you have little cheese crackers ........... this is my favorite way to eat Tuna and egg salad is by scooping with the cheese crackers ....... just remember your daily limit of cheese is 3 oz so even with these you can't over do ..........Just experiment it's fun!!!

                Hope that helps a little

Re: What's your ultimate first day?

I love to do steak and shrimp on Day one or two. It just reminds me of what a great way of living this is.

For breakfast, I wasn't too hungry today! (blessings...) So, I made a pepper and stuffed it with cream cheese (2 tblspn) and baked it for 15 minutes. Yum! As a back up, I had some morning star sausages, but those have 3 carbs each. I didn't eat one because I was full, but I knew in my mind they were there. I have trouble with meat sometimes, too. Can't wait for the tofu stage.

Re: What's your ultimate first day?

Hi. I just joined ADBB having been inspired by before and after pics of Bowulf on another board. I lost 60 lbs last year and have stalled/maintained since January. I'm restarting induction as of yesterday. Those to-die-for cream cheese pancakes sound wonderful. Would you mind posting the recipe? Also, I have some confusion. Would you agree that on induction 4 oz of cream cheese daily is allowed, and that this would take the place of 4 oz of any hard cheese?

BTW you can have 3-4 ounces of tofu on induction and OWL before the legumes rung if you use it as your cheese allowance!! Dr Atkins knew what we now call tofu under the name of 'soy cheese'.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
