  • One Nice Thing: A challenge for STAC-ers

Ok, here's the deal. Between now and next Sunday evening, I challenge every person here to do one nice thing for himself/herself. NOT something for anyone else, even if you are included in it. This has to be a purely self-oriented, nurturing thing. Cannot include kids, cannot include any dh.

    Some ideas:

    1. After a workout at the gym, shower, then slather yourself with a nice-smelling oil, put deep conditioner all over your hair, then sit in the steam room for 10 minutes.

    2. Go to Claire's at the mall and buy yourself a trinket.

    3. Manicure.

    4. Pedicure.

    5. Massage.

    6. Buy yourself a flower. Or a bunch of them.

    7. Go to Sephora or your cosmetics counter at a dept. store and ask them to put makeup on you.

    8. Take a walk alone at the beach.

    Just a few ideas.

When you've done it, report back. Remember - between now and Sunday night next.

Do something for myself??? I'll have to look that word up in the dictionary. lol

I'm in need of a haircut but haven't worked up the time to go out and get one. Maybe this is my week?

          I know, Blazing! That's why it's a CHALLENGE!

lolol. I gather I'm not the only one who sacrifices her self for others on a consistent basis. Well, it's not just our attitude toward our bodies that we are changing, and it's not just food and exercise that we need to give ourselves.

Re: One Nice Thing: A challenge for STAC-ers

It took a lot of thinking, but I got one!!

How ridiculous is this? We moved a couple of months ago from FL to the Netherlands!! Big change. Anyway, we have this awesome bathroom here with a huge (big enough for two big dudes, ha) really huge bathtub with jets and everything! I have not used it once. I have bought candles and placed them. I have my spa products placed around the tub and everything!!

It looks great. Oh, and I clean it every week.

So, how about I finally get in there and DO IT!

                  149.8/no weigh/ 119

                  1st goal: 139 (earlier weight)
what the rungs mean to me:
                  rung 1 - more veggies
rung 2 - dairy (some milk in coffee)
rung 3 - seeds, nuts (mostly sprinkled on salads)
                  rung 4 - berries, melon
                  rung 5 - wine -
                  rung 6 - beans, hummus
                  rung 7 - other fruits
rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)
                  Major Goal - 128 lbs/ healthy range
                  (on to pre-maintenance)

Re: One Nice Thing: A challenge for STAC-ers

Today is the first time I've seen this thread. I am on my way to JCPenny's to buy myself some new p.j.s. I've been sleeping in old t-shirts that probably should have been thrown out years ago. I have an hard time buying anything for myself which is totally ridiculous. After so many years of being told that I didn't deserve anything it is still hard to spend money on me. It is amazing after all this time how the verbage of my abuser is still like a tape playing in my brain. Getting rid of this crap is a part of my journey.

Anyway off to buy some new p.j.'s & whatever else hits my fancy.

Re: One Nice Thing: A challenge for STAC-ers

This is the first time I have seen this thread too...and since today is the last day I'll use what I did yesterday as a "one nice thing" for me.

Earlier in the week I purged my closets of all my old way too big clothing and even got rid of about a dozen pairs of shoes and a dozen purses. 3 big bags!!!!That being said.......

I went shopping yesterday and bought a new jean jacket, a plaid blazer, a skirt, a pair of jeans and a new purse. I must say I went a little crazy, but I loved it all. I felt kinda guilty but then I thought again...hey...you have taken care of everyone else all your life and always put yourself last...so I realized for the first time. I deserve this. Its a time in my life now where its time for ME.

                      Great challenge Evermind...thanks

I wasn't able to complete this. Isn't that sad? I really wanted to get a haircut but hubby insisted I do it with baby in tow. How, I have no clue....

Oh well, maybe next time. Congrats to all who had some "me" time this week!

HAHAHAHA. That made my day. I can't blame the guy though, I breastfeed and don't pump--they don't work right for me for whatever reason. So he's all in a panic that the baby will scream to eat while I'm gone and he can't do anything to help her.

He also doesn't do diapers--for the girls. (He helped with changing my sons when they were babies).

Maybe when she gets a bit older I'll be able to go. For now I'm resigned to a ponytail (which I HATE).
