I found out this morning about a death in the family and I am a wreck! I have been very emotional today and I am having a hard time staying focused as the vending machine is located accross from my desk and I feel very weak all day. So far I have not messed up and I am really fighting it! To be honest, I feel like Taco Bell tonight and a few candy bars.... HELP!!

Re: death in family - vending machine callin me
Sorry to hear about your loss
But going to the vending machine is only going to make you feel worse. Instead of Taco Bell, maybe you could go stop by the store on the way home and get stuff to make a lo-carb taco salad.
I think for many of us, including myself, our first reaction to stress, sadness, anxiety, etc. is turn to food. Part of this WOL is learning to break that addiction and stop relying on food for comfort. But if you feel like you NEED to eat something, at least make it something legal that will not leave you disappointed in yourself tomorrow.

It's not calling you. You're just hearing things. Have some celery with cream cheese and the nasty, bad voices will go away.

Angela, I am so sorry for your loss. I've recently experienced deep loss myself. I know about those vending machines....Truth is they are going to take you to a physically uncomfortable place. Right now you are heart broken, but eating bad things right now will bring in sick feelings and guilt...Pending on how close this person is, it will make it actually harder to get through if you get crap!
Take the high road, keep to your plans even tho this is personally a real challenge....You were good to write us about it....drink alot of water, raise your focus away from the machine! It has nothing positive for you, and it will put you way back!74 8/1/06
