  • Not Losing!

I have been on induction since Monday, Tuesday. I have lost 1/2 lb. Normally my weight loss is much quicker.

Could any of these foods/things be holding me back:
heavy whipping cream (which I have taken that out for health reasons)
bacon (because of the sodium) It's non sugar
TOM (although I never had that stop weight loss before)
constipation (I will be taking some herbs tonight)
    not enough water?
    not enough carbs?
    I am in heavy ketosis

After TOM, I will measure myself and see if that's changing.

    Thank you so much,

    Re: Not Losing!

    hi!

I'm having the TOM too and I heard its common to gain between 4-6 pounds of water weight and when it sheds it also tends to shed an extra pound or two. Usually I shed the water weight the day before I start. I'm just continuing to drink plenty of fluids and I cut my carbs quite a bit but I'm still relatively new to this diet so I hope you get a lot more replys! GOOD LUCK!

      Re: Not Losing!

Losing weight is never the same. Everytime you restart, your body questions your commitment and tries even harder to hold onto the extra pounds. As long as you're losing anything at all I'd say your losses are a complete success!

Make sure you get in all your water and take a good multivitamin. TOM gets everyone eventually so factor that in as well. If you are worried about salt in the bacon why not switch to a turkey or chicken one? I think they are lower in sodium than the other types. As far as constipation goes, Dr. Atkins recommeds Psyllium Husks. Those are supposed to be a magic cure for it.

Finally, take it easy on yourself. You are doing an amazing job by shifting your entire WOE and getting healthier. You wouldn't expect to break your arm and be doing pushups the next week, right? Take your time and before you know it you'll be at goal!

        Re: Not Losing!

Some people don't lose anything during the first week of induction - it's like their bodies are hanging on to water or fat, for some reason. We have one veteran who didn't lose anything during the first two WEEKS of induction! She's now at goal.

I wouldn't sweat it. Just keep doing what you're doing. Exercise. Chug that water. Eat that fat.

            Re: Not Losing!

Thanks everyone! I can't have sodium nitrate in my bacon. It's a huge migraine trigger! I'll skip it for awhile!

I confess I haven't done a lick of exercise. I have had a really bad headache, probably from starting the diet and then I got a hormonal headache for 2 days cuz of TOM. Tonight I am finally finding some relief.

            Tomorrows a new day!

            Thanks!

Ah,.....if you have been headachey, then you probably have the induction flu (in addition to Tom - what a LOVELY combo) and your body is just now detoxing from the carbs and getting into ketosis. Not to worry!

                Re: Not Losing!

Personally, I never go near the scale during TOM (or when I'm expecting it!). I'm always discouraged because my weight is usually 3-6 pounds higher than I'd expect.

Hey girl, welcome! Keep eating low carb, getting yourself into a routine, and start "moving" get some exercise going that you can handle, and is easy enough to become routine, and you will start to loose weight. your body knows what's going on, just keep doing everything right and eventually it will loose the battle of control.
Consistency leading to a way of life is what you want more than weigtloss or this is gonna be a yo-yo experience for you! Meaning, you'll end up right back here, saying, "Im back"
