  • Mon 9/17 Roll Call

Well good morning STACers....My thought for the day is, "if it's cooling off in the south, it's cooling off in the nation, usually!"
I think this next few weeks is prime time to get outside and take a walk after dinner, or before dinner! I know there are a million reasons why you can't and some of them are totally valid...Only you know if YOU DON'T WANNA!
But now is the time to capitalize on pleasant temps....soon daylight savings time is coming! Sooon it will be cooler....

It's also time to develop Plan B....exercise wise....I have to tell you I plan to do a triathalon in the spring, and the only way that will happen is if I keep my current level of fitness. I am not going through that tough time of getting back in shape...So, I found the local indoor pool...$5 a visit. I can use the treadmill in our clubhouse and I can bike inthe house or garage.
I've cleaned up the indoor stuff, and made sure the key still works at the club house and have 3 pools to choose from...My goal is to stay active.

For you it might mean, keeping yourself going to the gym. For some it's dusting off the videos, others fixing up the stationary equipment....The important thing is keeping exercise at the level you can do, in your schedule and in your life.
Having a strong plan A is great, and having a resonable Plan B is wise.

You have to pay a price for a healthy lifestyle, it's not free, it's hard work and continual plans and focus. It's how those who've made it, KEEP IT!

Good morning. Brrrr, gotta get that down comforter on the bed!

Went skating this weekend. You know, I bought my first inline skates about 17 years ago! Everybody was doing it. I'm still not very good. Everytime feels like the first time, but it's so fun that I don't care. I've barely done it since my ds was born, and I guess it's not so popular now. I've been to 4 stores looking for a new brake! Sporting goods stores sells skates but no parts. Crazy. Yes, once again, Sheepie is trying to get something and having a hard time! LOL! I think I'll have to order it online. Wish me luck!

About a place to swim. I don't know if this would work, but I used to know someone that was able to "join" a local hotel pool at a really low rate. You might want to see if that's a possibility.

I keep forgetting to mention that my hair is falling out! This happened last time too. I know that I just have to wait it out, but it's really annoying. My hair is probably my best feature!

Happy Monday everyone. Remember that water and those vitamins!

Good Morning Everyone! I had a busy but fun weekend but it's nice to get back on track schedule wise and be able to jump on here this morning and catch up and say Hello!

Jess I am working on a plan B for winter excercise. I would so love tot ake up a swimming regimen but for me that will have to wait for next summer wehn the pool opens up. I am looking for a good and fun few workout tapes I can add as well. I will continue to get my walk/runs in till the snow flies which after last night might not be long! It's 36 out this morning! Thanks for the push to get a plan in order!!!!!!

Sheepie hugs on the hair loss .......... I can totally relate to that it's a constant battle for me with my thyroid disorder I a am always battleing to keep my hair!

Thanks for the reminder Jess! I do need to work on a plan for excercise, ecspecially now! This is my last week before college classes full-time. This week I'm cleaning house, have family things 4 days, need to prepare my mind for school, and stay on track with everything here. With classes, excercise, children, and mother duties I will be a very busy girl.....but also a shrinking girl!

Morning, Plan A is getting healthy. Taking care of myself so I can get to a point of exercise, seems everytime I start exercising I get sick. I will not give up on it, just got to get to feeling better. I think I am not sleeping enough, working on that also. My clock is messed up. Not real sure how to fix that. Anyways.........getting rdy for work. Missed you guys while I was on my work trip. Will get on the boards and catch up later.

*YAWN* Morning everyone. It's crispy cold outside this morning. I love this kind of weather. It'll only make low to mid 70's today!! I even had to send the kids to school this morning with long pants and sweaters.

About alternative exercise when the weather gets cold, we have a clubhouse here that is free to tenants. I will try utilizing that this winter.

I've never learned to rollerskate. Isn't that sad? I have no balance on those things and end up spending more time on the floor than anywhere else!

hrgillespie I bought two tapes (Jane Fonda) off ebay a few years back and got them both brand new for 3 bucks each--shipping included. If you keep searching you are bound to come up with someone selling something for a really good deal.

                Have a great Monday all.

                  Good Morning All,

I have my winter routine underway. I love belonging to a gym, especially since mine is a women only. It makes everyone a lot more comfortable. This trainer thing is kicking my butt tho. Because we only have a month together, he is pushing extra hard. It hurts to sit down, or lift my arms, kinda hurts to drive even. It should be easier as the time goes on tho. Well have a great day all.

                    Good Morning, Everyone

Yay, cooler temps! It was in the lower 60's yesterday morning and this morning... still reaches 90 by afternoon, but at least it has been less humid. It's going to be really hot and humid again by the weekend, but at least I have a few days to enjoy the coolness... and I will!

Yep, Jess... we need to do what we can to develop that Plan B. As I mentioned earlier, dusting off the old VHS tapes has been my Plan B. I couldn't put out any money for new stuff, but I had lots of old stuff to fall back on and I'm glad that it's going to work out for me. My new love is Tae Bo.

Yeah, my hair has been falling out for about 3 months now. My hairstylist and my doctor both verified that this is perfectly normal when losing a lot of weight, and nothing to worry about and that it will grow back. To tell you the truth, I hope like heck that mine doesn't grow back. I know that most people do want theirs to grow back, but my hair was soooo thick that it actually looks a lot better thinner. Maybe it will stay that way

Kekabeka, I hope that you are able to get a clean 2 week induction under your belt... it really does set the stage for success. If going out to eat sabotages you, maybe it would be better not to. Although, I find it quite easy to stay on plan when eating out as long as it is the right kind of restaurant... Chinese and Italian are just too hard... seafood and steak are really easy... even Mexican has been easy (fajitas - yum! - just stay away from the chips and tortillas). Hang in there!

Going to get outside and enjoy the day - have a great one!

                      Re: Mon 9/17 Roll Call

                      Good morning!

The beauty of living on the west coast is that we don't have a winter that interferes with our outdoor workouts. I will be able to continue running through this winter. Yippee!

I also belong to a gym - LA fitness. I think I pay $30 a month, and although I can't really afford it, it's an investment in myself that I am making. The key for me is to continue to go regularly (3-4 x a week) so that it isn't a waste of my money..........so far, so good.

I essentially had a four day weekend this week due to religious holidays. It was SOOO nice and peaceful! Yesterday I cooked for the entire week (my food and everyone else's food) and so we are stocked, locked, and loaded for every meal through next Saturday. I feel refreshed and ready to get back to work today, though honestly, I could have slept another hour! lol.

It's all about planning. Plan A, Plan B, etc. A plan is not a rigid, inflexible thing that you have to follow or ELSE you fail. A plan is a guideline. It's like the Couch Potato to 5k thread on the exercise challenge forum. We all committed to do the program. We all gave ourselves permission to go at our own pace: if someone wanted to stay at rung 3 for 3 weeks, fine. If someone wanted to skip a rung, fine. If someone wanted to do a variation on a rung, no problem. We are all headed toward the same goal, and there are basic rules: run several times a week, and keep striving to run a little longer every time. It's not a race, and it's not a system where you HAVE to run a certain amount today or else you have failed and might as well give up.

I can see that a lot of us have that type of planning in our lives, or are gradually incorporating it into our lifestyles. Being mindful, thoughtful, reflective. Not beating ourselves up if we didn't do what we thought we would, but learning from what happens, and adjusting how we proceed accordingly.

                      I'm so proud of us!

No problem where I am with cool weather....it doesn't get too cold here, thank goodness...no fall for us...still in the 90's here. My plan is to start running, right now I do DDR and bike, but i need to step it up a bit. I do a lot of floor exercizes like abs, leg lifts and pushups, the non sweat type of workouts. I need to sweat more.

Sheepie, for the past 3 months my hair has been falling out a lot, but I still seem to have all of it there. Someone on here said when you have extreme and fast weight loss this happens and it's not permanent, or enough to do any noticeable damages...don't sweat it hun....

Hey everyone...well its definately cooler here, although yesterday it was in the 80's today its back down to the 60's.

We get winter and snow of course but I have plenty of indoor equipment to keep me on task. Between my treadmill, stability ball and various workout tapes I can find enough exercise to last me a lifetime. I'm hoping to find a used recumbant bike as I would like to incorporate that into my routine.

Its all about thinking ahead and planning ahead!

                          Have a great week everyone!

Good Morning STAC'ers. I had a crazy busy weekend.

Winter- yes we have a decent amount of termination dust (snow) in the mountains for the first time this weekend. It is frosty outside this am.

This is the week where my summer is finally over and I will be heading back to the YMCA. Last winter I over did things and ended up with a painful injury. This winter I am going to focus more on strength training. There is a pool at the Y also and I will swim and take water arobics when I can. When I feel strong enough I will start the C25K again.

I plan on picking up a kayak class (at the wave pool) and drum lessons (my daughter has a drum set but has been focusing on guitar). I haven't been skiing since 1988- but I might pick up Cross Country Skiing. Anchorage has wonderful ski trails. I have been talking about it since we moved here 9 years ago.

                            Have a wonderful Monday.

No excuses from me here... Winters here are mild so like Evermind, I can get out whenever... no snow, rarely rains,
will continue C25k and Slim n 6 videos... have bike, treadmill, etc...
I still have a sore throat and cough... fam reunion wiped me out and had a couple cheats which made me get sick I'm sure... working on just getting back to normal routine now... straightening up... vacuuuming... etc... have open house tonight for ds, need to do some shopping for dd, and laundry awaits... going out for a walk/run in a bit... nice and cool here today.
