  • Hi i'm new here

Hi everyone I'm new to this board but not atkins. 4 years ago i developed severe anemia and gained almost 50 pounds. My husband had been on atkins sucessfully so I went on atkins also and lost most of the weight I had gained. My docotr switched me to the body for life diet once I got down to my desierable weight and I did well on that until I had to go off my thyroid meds now I am having a struggle with my weight again sigh. So I am back on atkins. The hardest thing for me about staying on the atkins lifestyle is stress. . I tend to have a hard time staying away from comfort foods when I have had a realy stressfull day but I also know that I can not just eat off plan without suffering from extreme hunger and exhaustion for days afterwards. My goal for the rest of september is a clean induction except for allowing for 1 soy shake a day. I realy need the soy to help control hot flashes until the dr puts me back on my hormones again. If I mix the soy powder with water its only 3 carbs and 25 grams of protein so thats not bad I will try to make it up some where else during the day. Well anyway its nice to be apart of this board and I am looking foward to getting toknow all of you.

Welcome, angel! I knew someone who had a similar issue with soy, and also had to do the shake a day thing. She just counted it as part of her daily carb allowance, and after consulting with people at Dr. Atkins' place (this was when he was alive, way back when) concluded that it was ok.

She was able to lose the weight and had no problem with stalling from it.

Welcome. Is soy powder the same as soy flour? Just today I was looking at dessert recipes that take soy flour. It's nice that dh is on Atkins too. Mine was on it, but now he's only "watching his carb." Welcome
